MANILA, Philippines - Actor Alec Baldwin’s joke about getting a Filipino mail-order bride provoked a sharp response in the Philippines, with one senator saying Monday that the “30 Rock” star faces violence if he ever visits.
Baldwin, 51, who is divorced with a teenage daughter, said in a May 12 interview on “The Late Show” with David Letterman that he would love to have more children.
The Emmy-winning actor quipped that he was “thinking about getting a Filipino mail-order bride at this point … or a Russian one.”
Trust me, Alec, go with the Russian. Have you seen their women? Uber-hot!
Philippine Sen. Ramon Revilla said Monday that Baldwin’s comment was “insensitive and uncalled for” and an insult to millions of Filipinos.
He called the actor is “arrogant” and said he is apparently unaware that the Philippines has a law against mail-order brides. (H/T - Breitbart)

Nice caption… If he insults one more country… It will be an axis of the easily offended, of evil. I say go for N. Korea Alec… there’s a seventeen year old there I’ve had my eye on for a while.

Filipinos should fuss about Alec Baldwin’s joke. They should stop being so sensitive. Shouldn’t the Russians be complaining too? Alec Baldwin should not apologize. Teri Hatcher and the BBC shouldn’t have apologized either. What they’ve all said has a basis. Medical practice is crappy in the Philippines except for those who can afford expensive hospitals (sad but true). Also, a lot of Filipinos end up as maids in other countries, but (take note) not majority of Filipinos. And, Filipina mail-order brides DO exist, despite the law against it (although it is not the majority of the Filipinas). Filipinos should face these truths and actually do something about it so that the rest of the world may stop making jokes about these situations. The better thing to do for Senator Revilla is to see to the enforcement of the Anti Mail Order Bride Law and other laws instead of threatening to beat up Alec Baldwin.
