Important Info For Philadelphia Voters

By Wyatt Earp | May 18, 2009

vote1While political posts and snark are the norm here at SYLG, I rarely endorse any specific candidate for a particular position. I certainly try to avoid endorsing anyone in a local race, because what’s the point? The Democrats always win in this town anyway.

That being said, there is a terrific person running for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia tomorrow. That person is Anne Marie Coyle.

I have known Anne Marie and her family for a very long time. (Deathlok has known her longer than I have, and he can vouch for her character as well.) I grew up with her younger brother and my wife grew up with her younger sister. Anne Marie is a neighborhood girl, and has spent her professional life working to make this city better. She is one of the best assistant district attorneys we have, and I have had the pleasure of seeing her at her best – working to put criminals where they belong . . . behind bars.

Unfortunately, most Philadelphia voters blow off the judicial elections. Far too many people just pick a few names to fill the ballot, and give it less thought than an American Idol vote. The simple fact of the matter is this: The criminal justice system in this town is a joke. We need judges who possess intelligence and common sense. Anne Marie Coyle has these qualities in spades. Philadelphia needs someone like her on the bench. Hell, we all need someone like her on the bench.

So please, when you enter the voting booth tomorrow, take a moment to find Anne Marie Coyle’s name under the Judges section. I would appreciate it if you gave her your vote.

Thank you.

Thank you for this post! As a matter of fact, Mr. Crankipants and I were just talking about this last night. We were hoping that you would weigh in on candidates that are worthy/not worthy of our votes, especially since you are able to witness first hand what the average citizen doesn’t.

    Ms. Coyle’s got my vote.

Mrs. Crankipants - Thank you. She is more than worthy of everyone’s vote. Here are some great candidates for judge:

    Pat Dugan (Municipal Court)
    Joe Waters (Municipal Court)

The Philadelphia Bar Association has their recommendations HERE.

Hell Wyatt, I’ll drive in from Cleveland and vote for her.
If ACORN can do such things…… :) LOL

Disclaimer: Since there is always some liberal moonbat in the blogosphere who will think I was serious about the above, since they really do know ACORN..just kidding. But If I lived in Philly, I probably would:)

I voted, but I’m not sure why. All of the incumbents here are GOP and nobody’s running against them, so all of the races are in that other party (ahem, ahem).

Dude, she came in next to last.

Randal - Um, or first. Depending upon how the results are viewed. She was the top Republican vote-getter. The philly.com link is not ranked by vote tallies for some reason. She received 20% of the vote for Court of Common Pleas judges - at least according to the philly.com tabulation.
