Army Aunt Says What We’re All Thinking

By Wyatt Earp | July 7, 2009

1st Lt. Brian N. Bradshaw

1st Lt. Brian N. Bradshaw

God bless 1st Lt. Brian N. Bradshaw, and all of our troops whose deaths were ignored by the media these last two weeks.

A day before New York Rep. Peter King called Michael Jackson a “pervert” unworthy of nonstop media coverage, the aunt of a U.S. soldier killed in Afghanistan on the same day Jackson died asked why her nephew’s death went virtually unnoticed while the King of Pop got memorial shrines across the country.

“Mr. Jackson received days of wall-to-wall coverage in the media,” Martha Gillis wrote to the Washington Post. “Where was the coverage of my nephew or the other soldiers who died that week?”

I’m sorry, Ms. Gillis, but the media doesn’t care. They are more concerned with glorifying an accused pedophile.

Gillis’ nephew, Lt. Brian Bradshaw, 24, died in Kheyl, Afganistan, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. Bradshaw, of Steilacoom, Wash., was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division in Fort Richardson, Alaska. He was one of at least 13 U.S. soldiers to die in Afghanistan since Jackson’s death on June 25.

Bradshaw’s mother, Mary, said she agreed with Gillis, saying the nonstop coverage of Jackson’s death has become “totally ridiculous” and laughable.

“I can watch the news many nights and there’s no mention of what’s going on in Afghanistan or Iraq and there’s boys dying over there,” Bradshaw told FOXNews.com. (H/TFOXNews)

As I write this post, every news station on my dial is covering this freak’s memorial service. FOXNews is covering it – non-stop – until 3pm Eastern! At this point, North Korea could launch a missile at Hawaii and it would barely make the news ticker at the bottom of the screen.

And sadly, this will continue, because the story of some scumbag pervert entertainer generates more interest and ratings than our troops. No surprise, since the people attending and watching the service have nothing else better to do. The rest of us are working today.

Personally, I cannot wait until they put this toad in the ground and be done with it. But that’s just me.

Not just you, Wyatt. I can’t wait for this whole mess to be over and done with.

Was he a pedophile? I don’t know (but I sure think so). But either way, there are more important things happening in the world than the death of a has-been pop star.

Not that you’d know it from turning on the TV, of course…

It is now 3:50pm central time so I’m thinking….THE END. Finally!!!!! Perhaps the news media will start covering news rather than this train wreck of a memorial and all the hype. I’m not certain the MSM realizes we weren’t all fans. Quite a few of us could care less.

    Add me to the list!

Well said. I think 13 have died in service to our country since Michael Jackson’s death. Napalitano, filling in for Beck, did a segment on this. (I’ve been having similar thoughts, especially the past few days with so many deaths.)

The media will move from this of Palin’s (meltdown) resignation. Then they’ll find something else, so that they can avoid the realities of war.

The media should be talking about the war fronts, the turmoil in the rest of the world, and the non-improvement of our economic situation.

But they won’t, unless it involves skewering someone they despise.

I don’t know about y’all, but i was a fair bit more upset about billy mays’ death than I was about MJ’s…

Oh Wyatt, they’ll never be done. Cripes, I was sitting in a Chinese restaurant last night (who had their TV tuned to CNN) and from 6-8 P.M. it was highlights of the memorial service.

You know this won’t stop until the tox reports come back, and even then they’ll always be something.

    Sickening.

Oh, and while everyone else was wailing over Jackson, my husband got word from one of our OH Senators about cap and trade. Yes, Sherrod Brown will be voting FOR it…but of course, Michael Jackson died, you know.

I hear the family is debating whether to bury or cremate
the remains. If they bury, won’t they have to do an EPA ‘enviornmental impact’ study of the site first? And cremation… whoa!!… talk about air pollution. I am more for ‘Liquification’..cut him up and flush. let the sewer reclaim its own.

Disturbing what the media wastes ink on now days.

  11. Mrs. Crankipants Says:

Also disturbing is that $3 million taxpayer dollars went to his public memorial services.

I thought we were in a recession.
Maybe the Jackson family will pay it back when they release “The MJ Collector’s Edition” just in time for Christmas.

And I heard that, as of yesterday, NO ONE in the Jackson family had even made ANY kind of monetary contribution to the police!!! They provide security and crowd control for bupkiss!

Raptor – I mean, three hours of the midday devoted to this clown? WTF?

MeToo – Put me down as one of the ones who couldn’t care less.

    Alan B – Added!

RT – They spent a whole lot of time on the wars when Bush was in office, if I remember correctly. But not in a good way. Then, it was all about the “eeevvviiilll American troops.”

Crankipants – Another one for the list.

BZ – Well, I try to keep this a family blog.

Bob – As was I. And Billy was far more entertaining.

GroovyVic – Brown will probably also vote for the House resolution honoring Jackson.

Jon – I think they should melt his plastic face into Legos, so kids can play with him for a change. (Okay, that joke is going around, so I grabbed it.)

Admiral – And they wonder why newspapers are failing.

Mrs. Crankipants – Like the $1 million Philly spent on a Phillies parade? And now the city wants to freeze our salaries. Nice.

GroovyVic – Why would they if they don’t have to? How do you think they got so rich?
