House To Vote On Libya Funding
By Wyatt Earp | June 23, 2011
The vote will be to cut off funding for the operation, and it should take place by the end of the week. Apparently, Congress didn’t take too kindly to the president’s refusal to request consent for the action. I can’t say that I blame them.
Of course, the budgetary issues are an even bigger concern. The operation is costing about $2 million per day, and the total bill through mid-May is $664 million.
The House of Representatives is expected to vote this week on a proposal to cut off funds for U.S. military hostilities in Libya. The measure, which is still being drafted, would ban funding for U.S. participation in combat missions such as drone attacks in the NATO-led air war, said Representative Howard McKeon, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee.
[C]riticism has been building in Congress, especially in the Republican-led House, of U.S. involvement in the Libya campaign and President Barack Obama’s refusal to ask Congress for its consent.
Silly Congress, Obama doesn’t need your consent! Now sit down and shut up!
Leave it to Allen West to insert some common sense into these shenanigans:
“We’re kind of cash-strapped in our country right now and the last thing we need to do is be engaged in another combat theater of operations,” Republican Representative Allen West told reporters.
If approved by the House, the measure will most likely be killed in the Democrat-led Senate, but that’s not the point. The point is that Congress is finally standing up to Obama, his unapproved war, and his ridiculous spending. Considering his Afghanistan speech last night, you would think the POTUS would be all for defunding the Libyan operations.

Why does reading this posting cause me to flashback on a scene from Gladiator, where Commodis (obambi) screams into Lucilla’s ear (the US public)…”Am I not merciful!!!”. Or maybe Richard Wydmark (obambi)pushing the old lady in the wheel chair (US public) down the stairs while manically laughing would be more appropriate?

Depends on whether or not he can take political credit for it.
Pulling troops out of Afghanistan (outcome be damned) equals points with his political base.
Trying to effect regime change in Libya without “boots on the ground” (think Clinton bombing Kosovo), Obama will take credit for it if it works or blame the Republicans for their lack of support, if it doesn’t. Kind of like the economy!

Wyatt, I think you know how I feel about all this, so I’m not going to say a word.

Jon – Yeah, he’s merciful when it suits his political aspirations.
Proof – I still don’t buy that line. I guarantee there are some boots on the ground – whether it be CIA, special forces, etc.
GroovyVic – I do, and we agree with each other.

It just cracks me up that the anti-war President is fighting an illegal war.

When are the libs gonna get pissed at this empty suit?
If they ever open their eyes and see what they backed, it could get interesting.
From what I hear from the left, it’s all “la la la, I can’t hear you”.
We are in deep kimchi.

Old NFO – Oh, don’t think they won’t try to blame it on him anyway.
Ingineer66 – No, it’s not illegal. He told us so. /snark
Skip – But they will try and blame Darryl Issa for Gunwalker. Yeah, good luck with that, Obama.

Ghadaffi has already whipped Norway and Italy. France has to be feeling nervous.

proof – it’s funny too, because I swear Obama said something before the campaign, about not meddling in foreign affairs and criticizing his predecessor about it.
But that would just be hypocrisy, surely that can’t be found on the left…

Smite: It’s not hypocrisy when the Left does it. It’s Kinetic Truth Restructuring.
