Too Close To Home

By Wyatt Earp | October 4, 2010

You don’t have to be a genius to realize that Philly is a cesspool. Few people are more aware of the crime rate in this town than I am. That being said, my neighborhood is a pretty good one.

Of course, we have our share of incidents, and this one concerned me – because it happened a block from my kids’ school.

Police exchanged gunfire early Sunday morning with a man robbing a 7-11 store in the 9300 block of Bustleton Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, police said. There were no injuries. The suspect fled and has not been captured, but police found the gun used in the 2:18 a.m. shooting that involved two police officers.

Police are investigating whether recent gunpoint robberies at the Lukoil gas station at 12001 Roosevelt Blvd. and a Wawa at Philmont Avenue and Byberry Road are connected to the 7-Eleven robbery.

A normal parent would be worried. Not me, because I’ll be outfitting my boys .

For those of us who do not have our Class III’s, I think there is a manufacturer who has a 250 top drum .22 rifle with a hand crank, to meet the one shot per trigger operation criteria to keep it semi-automatic, but you can crank out 300-400 RPM totally legally, only slightly slower than the full auto baby featured above. Its slightly ackward holding with one hand and cranking with the other so they also offer a DC battery operated motorized kit to do the high speed cranking for you.
American ingenuity ya gotta love it:)

    Now THAT is definitely entertainment!

I remember when that part of Welsh/Byberry/Bustleton used to be the “boonies”…(way up in the 7th).

And I lived off of Haldeman Ave…when it was wilderness…LOL.

    Stay safe out there.

Old NFO – It would at least scare them.

Kim – Is that how you cleared the land for your house?

Proof – Always wear gloves when you shoot that thing.

JT – Unless you want to end up like Michael Jackson.

Jon – And high-speed works for everyone.

Bob G. – That was a long time ago.

Aunt Noreen – I’ll see what I can do. :)

Robert B. – “Give the governor a harrumph!”
