Obama Angers The Lunatic Fringe Again

By Wyatt Earp | May 16, 2009

obama-hopeychangeOh, that’s a shame.

I can still hear the woman from Obama’s campaign ad who kept saying, “Barack Obama just has a power to bring people together.” Hell, he can’t even bring the uber-liberal kooks together!

Don’t get me wrong, I think this is a smart (and necessary) move by Obama’s part, but apparently the hippies bought all of that “HopeyChange” crap.

WASHINGTON, May 15 — In response to President Barack Obama restarting the military commissions at the U.S.-controlled detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Amnesty International’s executive director Larry Cox issued the following statement:

“President Obama is reinstating the same deeply-flawed military commissions that in June 2008 he called an ‘enormous failure.’ In one swift move, Obama both backtracks on a major campaign promise to change the way the United States fights terrorism and undermines the nation’s core respect for the rule of law by sacrificing due process for political expediency.

“Backtracks.” I like that. Do you see what Larry Cox (Heh, heh, “Cox.”) is doing here? He’s saying Obama lied without really saying Obama lied. Brilliant.

Maybe the Obamaniacs should have realized that their icon is exactly what they thought he was not: A typical politician.

“Whatever revisions the Obama administration has made to the commissions do not change the fact that the commissions do not provide an adequate standard of justice for the detainees nor the victims of terrorism — they merely mock the U.S. Constitution, international laws and undermine fundamental human rights standards.

“What happened to President Obama’s confidence in the U.S. justice system’s ability to try detainees? He himself said that ‘we need not throw away 200 years of American jurisprudence while we fight terrorism.’ (H/T - Breitbart)

Um, he wised up? He sat down in the Oval Office, viewed all of the Eyes Only information that comes across the president’s desk, and realized that he was completely ignorant of the facts when he attacked President Bush on everything Club Gitmo-related?

Right about now, George W. Bush is sitting back and saying, “Not so easy when you’re in the chair, is it, Barack?” If I were the former president, I wouldn’t be holding my breath for an apology from Obama - even thought he deserves one.

You just said what I’ve said all along. The guy is a typical politician. The people who voted for him can pretend he’s not but it will be more evident every day.

But I give him points for learning facts and changing his mind. I didn’t believe in his campaign crap, so I am not personally wounded by the flip-flop here. (I mean flip-flop the verb, not flip-flop the noun.)
