Cougar Escapes Florida Custody

By Wyatt Earp | May 4, 2009

Apparently, there is an APB (All Paws Bulletin) on the cat.

POINCIANA, Fla. — Wildlife officials are looking for a pregnant cougar that escaped into the woods in central Florida while being transferred to a cage.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the cougar escaped Saturday while being prepared for a trip to the veterinarian for a cesarean section.

Jungle Adventures in Christmas has a permit to own the cougar.

Officials say the cougar was born in captivity and is named Sierra. The cat’s front paws are declawed and it’s wearing a collar. (LINK)

The AP released a photo of the cougar, in case it is seen by the public. The photo is below the fold.

Anyone who had a cougar declawed should also be charged with cruelty, permit or no permit. Ugh.
