Woman Arrested In Saudi Arabia For Driving

Wow, in America we just stay the Hell off the sidewalks when they’re around. Heh.
I really wish someone would explain to me why we are allied with these barbaric tools. And don’t say “Oil,” because we take more than we can use from Iraq now, right?
Police in the Saudi Arabian city of Mecca Wednesday arrested a woman for violating the country’s ban on women driving, according to the Saudi English-language daily Arab News.
The woman, whose nationality and name were not released but who was described as being in her 20s, attempted to flee when she realized police had spotted her driving, Saudi authorities said.
“The woman tried to escape when she saw a police car and in the process hit another car, which was slightly damaged,” Maj. Abdul Mushin Al-Mayman, a police spokesman, told Arab News. According to the spokesman, the woman was turned over to the Saudi Prosecution and Investigation Commission for investigation. (H/T - CNN)
“Turned over for investigation.” That’s code for “The woman will be executed within a week.”

totally will be flamed here, but… I somewhat sympathize with the ban of women drivers by that country…
That being said - they are just a bunch of tools too, two-faced ones at that, and have been for decades.. I’m tired of bailing their rear-ends out too. While money can buy stuff.. like rent-a-cop mercenaries, it can’t stop lunatic extremists in their own back yard.
No skin off my back if that kingdom falls, just means a little higher gas/diesel price at the pump for me.
Lots of sand out there… helluva glass house in the making.. I’m just sayin..

Explanation: we are allied with the monarchy. The monarchy is somewhat sympathetic to us. When (not if, when) the monarchy loses control, the government that replaces them will be wahabist, and far less sympathetic to us. The argument goes that the longer we can postpone that inevitability through our support of the monarchy, the better.
Of course, the counter-argument is that by postponing it, we are only making the populace hate us more, and it will be that much worse when they seize control.
Then there’s the counter-argument to both of those positions which is that a glass parking lot would be pretty cool.

Smite - We don’t need an ice rink that badly there . . . yet.
RFTR - Yeah, glass is kind of nice. I like that option.

What a messed up culture. They’re not human - they’re animals.
