Florida Boy Dies In Mom’s Car

By Wyatt Earp | July 20, 2008

And today was his mother’s wedding day.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A 4-year-old-boy died Saturday as his mother was preparing for her wedding in West Palm Beach.

Police said the 29-year-old mother, Mirlande Jean-Baptiste, was having her nails done when she returned to her vehicle to find the body of her son.

Paramedics tried to revive the boy but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said the mother was not aware the boy was in the vehicle. (H/TWPLG)

Maybe it’s the cynic in me, but I don’t believe for a second that this woman had no idea her four-year old son was in the car. I have a four-year old son, and I know where he is at all times, if for no other reason than he is constantly talking.

Something is wrong here, beyond the fact that this child is dead.

She left him in there because he would have ruined her relaxing manicure.

She had a four year old and didn’t have any idea where he was in the first place much less in her car. Does self absorbed and selfish come to mind?

What a selfish, self-centered, self-absorbed, lying cuss word! How DARE she claim ignorance. I pray to God that she has no more children now or in the future.

There is no way she did not know her four year old was in the car. I have a four year old that when we are in our van is talking non stop.

Admiral – My Erik talks every minute of every day. And yells most of the time. We almost always know where he is.

TW – C-word would work well there.

    Deanna – And criminally negligent.

Kim – Two words: Forced sterilization.

Rick – Agreed. I think she knew, but just didn’t care.

She didn’t know a four year old was in the car?! They are pretty big at that age, and can be kinda loud too.

I love little boys dearly, they are the most wonderful creatures on the face of the earth. I hope she fries. I could cheerfully hurt her and hurt her bad. The c*nt.

Wonder where she went for the honeymoon? Hope it was nice place with a sauna!

Its a shame we don’t have some of those wacky religious laws like they have in Afghanistan. Cause it would be just SO appropriate to chop off her fingers and feed them to her as punishment. But she’ll probably get house arrest and gobs of probation. Can we send her on one of those secret CIA rides to a middle eastern country where she can be tortured?

Man, you guys are a tough jury. I’d hate for my fate to rest in your hands depending on that little principle called innocent until proven guilty.

Mike: This isn’t the case of an exhausted mom and a newborn baby. This is a 4 year old child. There is no way she could not have known. I have a 6 year old, 3 year old, and 19 month old. Trust me when I say I know when my children are in the van.

Ky person – Ouch! Remind me to never piss you off.

Vinnie – No, we’re not allowed to use the CIA anymore. They are too politically incorrect.

MikeB – We’re just expressing an opinion. We’re allowed to do that here, right? A jury is a different standard, and obviously we would know more by the time it goes to trial . . . if it does. But for someone who claims to have kids, if you think this story passes the smell test, remind me to check your car.

My kids are (and were) pretty quiet, but I still always knew where they were, especially if I was going somewhere.

Not to mention, a 4 year old would have probably gotten out of the hot car if he’d hidden in it UNLESS his egg donor (couldn’t bring myself to call her mother) threatened him with bodily harm if he got out of the car.

Not to be morbid, but is it at all possible, that in fact she did know the child was in the car, and that she was having her nails done and she was getting married.. could it be she wanted to enter her new life without any extra baggage.. Humm. makes you wonder.

OK, there have been a lot of similar stories, so cynicism may be in order.

But there is more info. She had left her kids with a friend, who noted the 4 year-old was not with the others but shrugged it off. Seems he had gone back to the car during hand-off and gone to sleep: Mom thought she knew where he was, friend thought she knew, second friend drove Mom and hey, even guys will talk enough to cover the sound of breathing which probably would not be noticable in a car anyway.

I’m going to wait until more info comes in. But, if she knew that he was in the car and had left him in there, I really, really, really hate to be in her shoes.
