Woman Shoots Workers At Kraft Factory

By Wyatt Earp | September 9, 2010

On the way home from Kyle’s soccer game tonight, we noticed an inordinate amount of my fellow officers flying up the Roosevelt Boulevard, lights and sirens blazing. When we got home, I heard about this story.

This plant is a few blocks from my home.

Three employees at the Kraft Food plant in Northeast Philadelphia have been shot tonight by a woman who is still in the building, police said. The shootings occurred sometime around 8:50 p.m. and was committed by a woman, police said. She was reported to be hiding in an office and was on the phone with police.

One victim removed from the building was shot in the neck, police said. Two other victims were reported to be still in the building. About 100 workers were reportedly inside the building and most had been evacuated

I’ll try to put out updates as they come in.

9:15PM UPDATE:

Officials say an African American woman named Yvonne Hiller is the alleged shooter.

10PM UPDATE:

Two people are dead and one injured in a shooting that occurred in the Kraft Foods Factory (the old Nabisco building) a little after 9 p.m. Thursday night, according to Philadelphia Police. The 43-year-old female shooter, who locked herself in an office in the building is now in custody.

FRIDAY MORNING UPDATE:

Sources identify the armed female employee as Yvonne Hiller. Authorities say the suspect opened fire at about 9 p.m. inside the Kraft Foods plant located in the 12000 block of Roosevelt Blvd. Two unidentified victims suffered fatal wounds and a 30-year-old male, was rushed to Frankford-Torresdale Hospital with a neck and shoulder wound and was listed in critical condition.

At about 9:40 p.m. the suspect was located inside the building and taken into custody. Her motive remains unclear at this time. Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said the suspect was a 15-year veteran of Kraft Foods. She was suspended earlier in the day for unknown reasons. Minutes later, the suspect returned with gun in hand.

Please pray for the victims’ families.

    Just awful.

RT – SWAT brought the woman out, who some outlets are saying is a “disgruntled employee.” I guess her anger is justification for murdering two people. At least that’s the spin that will come from this.

Hmmm a woman with the name of Ivan? No wonder shes nuts. May the victims all be alive and recover.

Probably because they took down that damn NABISCO sign.

Jon – May be “Yvonne.” Still confirming the woman’s ID. Two of her three victims have died.

Randal – Watch the backlash. Not against this toad, but against the eeeeevil guns, that just go off for like, no reason. I thought it funny and sad that Fox 29′s 10:00 news went with the Koran-burning idiot and put this story on the back burner.

Huh … I was just driving past there after picking up the Mrs from the train station at Conwall Heights.

Dude I heard the sirens about that time but since they are becoming more and more usual around here I didn’t give it a second thought. I actually worked there for about two weeks when I got out of the Army. Ho-lee crap!

Terrible tragedy for the victims and their families. May God grant them peace and strength.

A pity the perpetrator will not get real punishment… her lawyer(s) will plead insanity.

Howdy Wyatt – will definitely keep the victims and their families in my prayers.
Have y’all got any updates on this? Did this Black Woman work for Kraft or get fired recently or anything like that?
(I used Black instead of African American cause some of my friends are from the Islands, Mon and they HATE being called “African Americans!”.

Fucking goddamned hell…..shades of that fuck-up Omar Thornton in Hartford last month.

WAAAAAH! Bitch was racially discriminated against! WAAAH! Life’s so unfair, so I guess she has to murder some people to compensate for being a completely useless fuck-up!

It’s all the victims fault! What? The can’t defend themselves posthumously because psychobitch threw a lethal tantrum? Too fucking bad….it’s their own fault for eating a bullet, I guess….

mdmhvonpa – We probably passed each other on Roosevelt Boulevard.

Captain – Apparently, they are hiring angry mental defectives there now.

Robert B. – Of course. I wish she put up a fight against our SWAT team, but in the end, she’s nothing more than a frakkin’ coward.

Old NFO – No justification at the time. Apparently, she surrendered rather easily after SWAT moved in.

    Bob – Thank you.

Real – She worked at the plant for 15 years, and her co-workers said she got into a few scrapes with her co-workers in that time. She was suspended today, and came back a short while later with a .357 Magnum and started firing.

Fenway – Expect that exact spin to start leaking out by the end of the weekend. She’s a murderous piece of filth, and hopefully she dies in prison.

And my company does not allow employees to carry guns on their property!! Oh well, some policies are made to be broken.
    Crazy folks are out there.

  16. Wyatt Earp Says:
    September 10th, 2010 at 8:25 am

Danny – This is exactly the reason you should be allowed to carry in the workplace . . . and on college campuses. How else will you defend yourself from these animals?

    Wyatt:
I used to live on Evans St off of Haldeman (when those duplexes there were NEW) and I could smell Nabisco most every day, across the old Yale lot.
Normandy Square Mart was open then, and later in life I worked at the IRS center right NEAR Nabisco (now Kraft).

That was a time when things were a LOT better all around in philly, too (except for the chronic “Badlands” up north Philly way).

Damn shame it has become what it is…guess ALL those years of DEM-RULE are “paying off”…and that ain’t good.

The 7th was busy last night…

Pretty sad when you’re not even safe at WORK in NE Philly…!

    Stay safe this weekend.

Why does that woman’s name sound familiar to me? Has she been in any other trouble that I might have read about?

  19. C/A Says:

Apparently it’s being reported now that she (the shooter) was a “very spiritual” Muslim woman.

  21. ryukyu Says:

Very “spiritual” indeed. Maybe they can put prayer rugs down on top of the chalk marks to bring us all together?

Having worked for Kraft for a number of years in my youth I can honestly say that she’s not in her right mind.

    *shrug*

At least she’s not buggering little boys.

    Bob G – Evans? We’re practically neighbors!

DL – Not that I know of. I can check and get back to ya.

Captain – Like, say, radically devout?

Rick – I believe one of the victims was Muslim. Guess they have no problem murdering their own, either.

Ryukyu – And if no one joins her, they’re racissssst!

Hutch1200 – She’s just defending herself from those militant Baptists we’re always hearing about.

Min – Not that we know of.
