Obama Finally Makes A War Decision

By Wyatt Earp | November 25, 2009

Dont Ask Dont TellOr should that be “poor” decision? The president has reportedly decided – after several weeks – to grant General McChrystal’s troop request.

Sort of.

This Ain’t Hell has the news. It’s good, but not great:

I guess Axelrod told President Obama that he couldn’t get elected if he didn’t send some troops to Afghanistan and apparently they’ve just been bickering over the number the last few months.

General McCrystal asked for 40,000 troops and Obama is thinking about 34,000. When I was an infantry platoon sergeant and I needed a crucial part to keep my platoon running, or an important piece of equipment, I’d request 3 – that way I made sure I’d get one. I hope that’s what General McChrystal did when he requested troops.

Either way, Obama has bought his share of the war whatever the outcome. He wasn’t willing to buy the full boat, so every death, every casualty is fully his – from the day McChrystal submitted his report 3 months ago.

The president is going to undercut McChrystal’s request, but I reckon we should be thankful he is addressing it at all.

I know obambi loves Lincoln so maybe he’s treating McChrystal like Lincoln did McClellan and undercutting his requests so he can feel historic.

I love Rurik’s ‘nom de guerre’ in the comment section for obambi though…’Dinglebarry’. LOLOLOL

In all seriousness, give the general the manpower he needs along with more helicopter support and about 10 times more predator drones…or..get off the pot dinglebarry.

My name is Debbie and my son is a member in the 5th Stryker Brigade 1-17 ID fighting in Afghanistan. I can’t just sit here any longer while the extra troops they need are being pushed on the back burner. I created a YouTube video and I hope you can help by watching it and passing it along. We need to keep our Soldiers in the forefront and I don’t know how else to help them. Please help me and view this video immediately and pass it on. This comes straight from the heart of the mother of an American Soldier. Here is a link to the video. This can’t become yesterdays news.

Yeah, so 34,000 just smacks of arrogance: “I’m in control and I will decide what it is best, because I am the ONE and I know ALL. Can’t he just listen to the guys who know about matters of warfare?

McCrystal actually asked for 40,000 to 65,000 more troops, but the media has been reporting as 40k because they know Obama is going to undercut the minimum requested to achieve victory and make it sound like a compromise between the Pres and the military. A real compromise would have been 50,000.

Jon – Undercutting McChrystal just opens the opportunity that the war will continue on long after it is necessary. Give him the troops and enjoy the victory.

Debbie – Thank you and your son for your sacrifices.

RT – Nope. Obama is the smartest man in the room. Just ask him.

Ingineer66 – Frak compromise. Get the job done, O!
