Obama Outdrives Bush On Golf Course

By Wyatt Earp | October 26, 2009

Obama GolfAnd by that, I mean he drives the cart more often than the former president. This is no difficult task, since President Obama hit the links in 2009 more than George W. Bush did in two years.

Any takers on how many times the nightly news programs will mention this little info nugget? My guess if that they won’t touch it with a ten-foot pitching wedge, even though they couldn’t wait to post photos of President Bush swinging the irons.

President Barack Obama has only been in office for just over nine months, but he’s already hit the links as much as President Bush did in over two years.

CBS’ Mark Knoller — an unofficial documentarian and statistician of all things White House-related — wrote on his Twitter feed that, “Today – Obama ties Pres. Bush in the number of rounds of golf played in office: 24. Took Bush 2 yrs & 10 months.”

This news comes on the heels of today’s news that Obama played golf with a woman — chief domestic policy adviser Melody Barnes — for the first time since taking office. (H/TPolitico)

A lot of people would be up in arms at this news. Me? Eh, not so much. POTUS is a stressful job, and the Chief Executive should get some relaxation time. That being said, since there isn’t all that much hubbub from the MSM surrounding this story, there shouldn’t have been when Bush was president. It’s the hypocrisy that really burns me.

Who was his caddy: Danny Noonan or Tony D’Annunzio?

This non-story is absolutely more about the media and what they consider to be news worth reporting.

I don’t care how many times a president plays golf… but I do care when it’s only reported as a bad thing for one side. The media needs to invest in a big mirror and check for warts.

Deanna – That would be awesome!

Randal – Noonan! Noonan miss!! Noonan miss it!!!

    BA – Well played, sir.

Sully – Especially if they are sitting next to Helen Thomas!

I have always said since the man took office, its been like one big vacation for him in his new crib and new job. Thats how he views this Presidency! What with the date nights jetting off to paris with michelle and the partys at the white house with Earth Wind and Fire to name a few.
#$%$! Can I Have GWB back? I would take Hillary or Billby Bob at a pinch.

Actually, I’d prefer that he play lots of golf. The more time he’s out on the links, the less time he’s screwing up the country. What’s bad about that?

Frankly, I don’t recall seeing anything about Bush golfing, or it just didn’t register as a big deal if I did. It was more the (I believe) 700+ days (2 years!) spent in Crawford, TX out of 8 years in office that stuck out.
For comparison, if Obama had spent 2+ months of the past nine in Chicago, that might be noteworthy.

Scott, get your facts straight. Bush spent 490 days at Crawford, TX (for whatever that’s worth). And that’s from the liberal media record!

I figure the more time he spends on the links, the less he can screw over the country.
