I’m Back From Dipsoluscious Vacation!
By Wyatt Earp | August 22, 2009
What part of that did you not understand? Heh.
Yes, it’s true. RT’s reign of terror is over, and I am now firmly ensconced behind the golden EIB keyboard – no one is dumb enough to give me a microphone to broadcast my terrible Philly accent. I kid about RT, of course, I want to thank her for keeping the blog warm for me. I think she did a fine job, so why not give her a big hand, kids?
So, where to begin? First, I am a filthy dirty liar. We spent the entire week down at the Jersey shore, and I didn’t have (or want) internet access. I didn’t broadcast the vacation for obvious reasons: my fans would have flocked to Sea Isle City to snap a pic of me in my bathing suit, and because I didn’t want any tools stopping by the Earp Ranch and helping themselves to my stuff. Of course, since Fireboat John and Captain America are their own well-armed militia, such an attempt would be met by gunfire – dispensed with extreme prejudice.
Second, the shore was kickass. It was a very relaxing week, spent mostly on boogie boards with the kids in a terrific surf. Every day saw highs in the 90′s, and always the dumbass, I poo-pooed the sunscreen on Day 1. I spent the rest of the week recovering from severe sunburn, thanks in part to my Irish-Slovak complexion. I have about a week’s worth of entertaining shore stories for you, but I’ll try to space them out. Today’s subject is not so much a story but an observation. It is also a tweak of a Randal Graves quote (from Clerks, not our Randal) that summarized my beach experience quite eloquently:
“This beach would be great if it wasn’t for the fu**king sand.”
