The PA Turnpike Is Sticking It To You

By Wyatt Earp | November 23, 2011

And this time it’s not through ridiculous tolls and traffic jams. No, the Turnpike is sticking it you with driveway sealant. On the busiest travel day of the year.

Yeah, I know that won’t make the affected drivers feel any better, but it could be worse: the sticky goo could be something left behind from Jerry Sandusky.

Numerous drivers found themselves in a sticky situation Tuesday night when a tar-like substance leaked on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, damaging countless vehicles and snarling traffic for a nearly 40-mile stretch.

Pennsylvania Turnpike spokesman Bill Capone said a tanker carrying driveway sealant began leaking around New Castle and continued to spill the fluid for 39 miles until it exited the turnpike at the Oakmont Plum service plaza. (H/TGunnutmegger)

Damned tanker probably came here from Ohio.

After they built the turnpike, they were only gonna collect tolls until the cost of building the turnpike was collected.

So, they’ve been stickin’ it to us for awhile.

I always avoid the Penn Turnpike.

Where it’s not potholed and crappy there’s construction with the lanes narrowed to too narrow so you’re stuck behind trucks that can’t say in their lane.

I refuse to pay for the privilege of nearly being killed.

The tolls charges keep going up for lousy driving conditions.

Dang, and the turnpike is my “easy” route when I head up there! (I am not sure I wouldn’t choose sticky goo over the traffic going around Pittsburgh actually. Nightmare.)

LDIV – I remember Fat Eddie Rendell looking for sponsors for the Turnpike. Don’t think it panned out.

Veeshir – The cattle chutes are death traps.

    Rick – Indeed.

Sally Anne – Yeah, it’s as bad – or worse – than Philly

MY guess would be DETROIT…or CHICAGO…LOL!
    (maybe even D.C.???)

    ;)

And to think my father who passed WAY back in ’78 always thought the PA turnpike was sticking it to people…talk about being PROPHETIC!

    Roll safe out there.
