The Palin Assaults Continue
By Wyatt Earp | August 31, 2008
You have got to hand it to Alan Colmes; he sure knows how to be an insensitive tool when he wants to be.
Debating Palin’s stance on the issues is one thing, but attacking her for basically being an unfit mother is quite another. Take this article from his site, where he accuses Sarah Palin of taking risks during her last pregnancy.
Oh, and I’ll try to not point out the irony of someone who is unabashedly pro-choice criticizing a woman for taking risks with a pregnancy.
Rogers Cadenhead gives the timeline associated with the birth of her newest child. She had a speech in Dallas and, even after the water broke, continued with her activities, and then boarded a plane for home. She did consult by phone with her doctor.
Still, a Sacramento, Calif., obstetrician who is active in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, said when a pregnant woman’s water breaks, she should go right to the hospital because of the risk of infection. That’s true even if the amniotic fluid simply leaks out, said Dr. Laurie Gregg.
Gee, I’m sure glad Alan Colmes is not my wife’s OB/GYN. (He does have a medical degree, doesn’t he?) Especially since it took almost two hours for my in-laws to get to our house and watch our sleeping children after the missus’ water broke. Factor in the car ride, registration, and the time to be seen – at a small hopsital at 2am – I reckon we’re terrible parents, too.
Strangely enough, the post has mysteriously disappeared from Colmes’ site. Apparently, sometime between 9:54pm last night and 2am this morning, the post was removed. Either Colmes’ conscience got the better of him, or his people realized that he frakked up. Luckily, the folks at Wizbang are on the case, and took a screen capture of the despicablly offensive rant.
Since we cannot see the entire article anymore – although, I’m sure some computer guru can resurrect it somewhere – I wonder if Colmes was trying to blame the Down Syndrome on the delay? I certainly hope not, because DS is caused by a chromosomal disorder and not a lack of pre-natal care.
To be honest, I would have expected an idiotic attack like this from his partner, Sean Hannity. (For new readers to SYLG, I despise that guy.) This nonsense makes Hannity’s rantings seem tame by comparison. Good job, Alan.
UPDATE: A commenter at Wizbang apparently found the missing article, replete with the comments to it.

No wonder they took it off the net, the response wasn’t where they wanted it – major error in posting it, and second major error in thinking removing it would make it go away – Oliver North isn’t in charge of their electronic security is he?

I don’t watch H&C much because I’m not crazy about either one, but this one took me by surprise. From what I’d seen, Colmes had always struck me as a not very bright, party line, nebbishy guy. I’d never heard him spout anything like this.
He took his post down, by the way.
