Disabled Couple Victims Of Wheelchair Theft
By Wyatt Earp | August 31, 2008
Tell me again why Philadelphia is such a great place?
Of course, Philadelphia would be a better place if people like this were drawn and quartered.
Hope Blake and her fiancé Clinton Crittendon say their key to independent living has been taken away.
The two suffer from debilitating diseases that force them to rely heavily on the wheelchair for mobility. Hope has spinal bifida, a developmental birth defect, while Clinton suffers from cerebral palsy.
The couple live together in Wissahickon and share the one wheelchair because of their medical expenses, but late Friday night that wheelchair was stolen from their home.
Hope’s sister was inside the house when the chair was taken and tells CBS 3 she heard some men approach the house and say they were going to break in to rob it. However, she says, they noticed the wheelchair sitting in the front yard plugged into an electrical cord and made off with it. (H/T – CBS3)
What are these scumbags going to do with a motorized wheelchair? Please Lord, if there is any justice, will you see to it that these men are run down by a tractor trailer? Thank you.

I can guess two things. They might try to fence the wheelchair for drug money. Or they are just evil. My guess is that they are evil.
I hope they get gangrenous boils.

Wow. This is just sad. It is not enough that these two people have to deal with limitations in mobility, live in a city that isn’t the best for people with disabilities to get around, and on top of it, they SHARE one wheelchair. That means they sacrifice immensely for each other. Then, some idiots, not in need of a wheelchair steal theirs.
I hope some well-heeled folks see the story and give the couple two wheelchairs and that those scumbags are found.
How awful.

Hey Wyatt- I will send $100 to them if you can get a fundraising link going or an address.

Ky person – My hope is that they get painful ass cancer. But I have been told I have a mean streak.
RT – It is truly a terrible story. And again, the motive for stealing such a thing? What a bunch of toads.
AJ – If I see a link, I’ll pass it along on the blog.

I agree with you Wyatt. These scum deserve the worst possible disease and death.

I’d kick in a few bucks for a new wheelchair too, if you would provide a link. Paypal would be best; I’m terrifically lazy.

Ky is probably right; most stuff like that is done by junkies.

FD – “Painful ass cancer” is what we wish on idiots at work.
Miriam – Apparently, some companies already promised to donate one or two. Good for them!
BobG – Then let’s hope for some bad heroin to hit the streets of Philly soon.
