Marines Disciplined For Puppy Tossing

By Wyatt Earp | June 12, 2008

And no, that is not a euphemism.

The U.S. Marine Corps has disciplined two Marines over a videotape that showed a Marine throwing a puppy over a cliff, the military said Wednesday.

Jesus Christ! What the Hell is their major malfunction?

Officials did not specify the role that each man played in the incident, which received international attention after a video of it appeared on YouTube.com March 3.

Lance Cpl. David Motari is being processed for removal for his role, the Marine Corps said, and Sgt. Crismarvin Banez Encarnacion also has been punished.

The video shows someone throwing a black-and-white puppy off a rocky cliff. The dog makes a yelping sound as it flies through the air.

“That’s mean. That was mean,” someone off-camera is heard saying. (CNN)

Look, I’m no hippie PETArd, but this is a despicable act by two people who should have known better. The act was bad enough, but to videotape it? What a piece of garbage. These morons are not fit to wear the uniform.

Cruel thing to do. Filming it was despicable.

There’s no way you can justify that.

Admiral - Agreed. Filming it was despicable and stupid. Doing it was much worse.

Doghouse - No way in Hell. I hope they are dishonorably discharged.

What can possibly cause someone to do that? A puppy! WTF!

Joaquin - I know! It’s not like it was a cat, then there would be no problem. Kidding, kidding!

Sorry, but if I saw one of my fellow service members do that, I’d probably toss him over after the dog. I’d wind up in jail, of course. But I’d go knowing that I’d made the world a slightly better place.

John D - And it would be worth it. I cannot adequately express my outrage over this without using lots and lots of “sentence enhancers.”

My father served in the Marines when he was a teenager. I’ve known several Marines in my life. Every Marine I’ve ever known would have beaten the everloving crap out of that guy, and then turned him over to superior officers for cashiering out of the service. He’d be on his bunk for the duration until he was out, because no Marine would trust a coward like that to support them. And if he were to end up on patrol, it’s entirely possible that he’d be a victim of “accidental” friendly fire.

I’m not old enough to say it, but I will anyway. The world’s going downhill fast.

Someone already suggested what I was going to suggest…to kick his sorry ass off the cliff after the puppy.

Phillip - I think “blanket party” pretty much sums it up. These two need a soap beating, a la Full Metal Jacket.

    DL474 - Agreed.
