Obama Ending “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell?”

By Wyatt Earp | October 12, 2009

Just don't ask to see his helmet.

Just don't ask to see his helmet.

Oh, thank God! Now Perez Hilton can join the Marines!

One of Bill Clinton’s crowning achievements (that didn’t involve stain removal) may be close to getting the axe from President Obama:

President Obama — confronting gay critics who expected his administration to have done more by now on gay rights issues — said Saturday night he understands their impatience with him and vowed to deliver on his pledges, including ending the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

Somehow our “illegal and immoral wars” will become just if we only allow gays to serve openly. I don’t get it, but it makes sense to some liberals apparently.

Prediction: Obama and the Dems will craft new legislation intended to appease the homosexual lobby while not really changing anything. “Don’t ask, don’t tell” will simply become “Don’t care, don’t let us know” or “Is that a purse you’re carrying, Scott? Nevermind, none of our business.” (H/TThe Powers That Be)

Agreed. If this is repealed – no certainty, because Obama has reneged on promises before – a similar plan may be put into place. It’s not like the MSM or anyone else would do any follow-up investigations into this.

And for the record, I don’t care either way. As long as the person can do the job and loves his/her country, I am all for them joining the ranks of our armed forces.

The real problem is that serving in uniform means you have to obey the law. In most places, sodomy, oral copulation and other than normal straight sex is illegal. I think it will cause many problems and the unintended consequences will make for some long days for our junior leaders. Oh well, no one asked me. MUD

People will simply wonder if that is in fact a computer bag or a “man purse”. Otherwise, same old, same old.

So Obama has promised many things to many people and that was good enough to win a Nobel prize. Why now is it not good enough to promise to end Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell and then not do it. He hasn’t done much of anything he said he was going to do.

MUD – I would have more respect for this announcement if I thought it was a serious one and not one to score political points.

MeToo – Hey, if Jack Bauer can carry a man purse . . .

The Girl – It makes sense to me.

AJ – Hey! I’m less fat now!

Ingineer66 – That’s why I think this is bunk. I may be wrong, but I think he’s telling people what they want to hear.

The issue is one of forced intimacy. If I were to beg to be allowed to shower with the females, I’d be told no. If I claimed discrimination, I’d be laughed at.

Nobody should be forced to bunk or shower with someone who might take a sexual interest in them. Forcing male personnel into intimate situations with a gay man is no different than forcing females into same situations with a straight man.

This is the point. It doesn’t become trivial just because the predator and prey share genital configurations.

    Bad idea. Period.
