It’s Opening Night!

Well, after a few preseason games, our 2009-10 ice hockey season begins tonight. We’re playing a team called “Double D’s,” which I think may be a strip club. Here’s hoping.
Personally, I feel good about tonight. During our last preseason game, I played about 38 of 45 total minutes. That’s a lot of ice time. We only had two subs, so everyone played more than their share. We lost the game, but I didn’t vomit afterward. I must be in some kind of shape.
My only issue with tonight is that my biopsy stitches are right where my helmet would sit on my forehead. I’ll have to double up on bandages and hope for the best. Since I go back to get my results tomorrow morning, I should be okay for this game. The missus asked me to reconsider playing because she didn’t want me to pop a stitch, but since I haven’t played a full season in two years – between the appendicitis and the bad knee – I’m hell bent on getting to the rink.

UPDATE: We won by a score of 4-3. It was a pretty back and forth game against a team we should have rolled over. Eh, it’s the win that counts. I tallied an assist during the contest, even though I didn’t play all that well. The good news? Although the helmet was pressing against the bandage, I didn’t pop a stitch!
