NYC Bus Driver Murdered In Front Of Riders

By Wyatt Earp | December 2, 2008

Jesus. The driver was stabbed to death by a passenger over a $2 transfer slip.

BROOKLYN (CBS) ― Police said a New York City bus driver was stabbed to death Monday afternoon by a rider apparently angry over not receiving a free transfer.

The driver of the B-46 bus, identified as 46-year-old Edwin Thomas, was operating the bus in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn and picked up the suspect around 12:30 p.m. Monday at Malcolm X Boulevard near Gates Avenue.

Police said the man swiped an invalid fare card and sat down on the bus, then asked for a transfer slip usually available to riders.

Police told CBS 2 HD that when the driver told the man that he didn’t pay for the ride and couldn’t get a transfer, the man punched the driver in the head and stabbed him to death while other riders looked on.

The suspect fled on foot. Police are looking for a black male between 18 and 20 years old wearing black jeans and an Adidas jacket. (H/TWCBSTV)

The offender needs to be found and killed. Seriously. What the Hell is wrong with this country?

If only the driver could have been packing heat, he could have protected himself. And he could’ve removed another oxygen thief from the gene pool. But sadly, in NYC no one is allowed to have a handgun – except the police and the private bodyguards of the rich and famous.

Malcom X Blvd……..Hmmmm…….he was probably just distressed by the bus driver’s causing him to be late for a Kiwanas Club meeting.

“If only the driver could have been packing heat,”

    - or when the criminal stabbed him UNEXPECTEDLY, the criminal could have stolen his gun and shot all of the passengers, too.

Randal – But if the passengers had guns . . . Heh. See? The cosmic ballet goes on!

But, but I thought that if we could only take the guns away from the bad guys, there would be no more homicide.

Read about the increase in knife crime in England. Scary stuff.

Sigh. It’s a sad world we live in.

An entire bus full of people and the guy gets away on foot???

Agreed Wyatt, find and kill the scum-bag. Then round up every one of those passengers under the age of 80 and slap them in the face with a frozen halibut…hard.

The police can never come close to making our communities safe when the very citizens that make up that community aren’t willing to take a stand.

“But if the passengers had guns” – great, back to the Old West….no thanks.

“An entire bus full of people …” – I missed that part in the article. Oh, and I ‘m not chasing a guy with a knife while I’m unarmed; good luck with that.

There are more good guys in this world than bad guys. Gun control laws only disarm those who obey the law. It’s time we take this country back from those who would harm others over such a meaningless thing as bus fare.

The Old West? Are you getting your info from actual history or from Hollywood?

How about if we put all of yuse gunslingers on a remote island and let you fight it out. Last on standing wins.

8 million New Yorkers, each armed with a gun…you sir, are a genius!

Ky person – Our commish is crowing about the homicide decrease, but knife attacks in Philly are through the roof.

Doghouse – You can say that again.

Kaveman – I can’t rip the passengers. Most normal people wouldn’t confront a toad like that. I would, but it’s my job.

Randal – If there were a few responsible gun owners on the scene, they may not have prevented the murder, but they may have stopped the toad dead in his tracks. Maybe that saves another victim down the road.
