Philadelphia Hosting Obama “Watch Party”

By Wyatt Earp | August 28, 2008

Behold, the Greek God Obama!

Behold, the Greek God Obama!

Should I be giggling at tonight’s local forecast? Cloudy with a few showers. Tee hee hee.

A local show producer is organizing a Barack Obama watch party for Thursday night on Independence Mall.

“It truly will be the biggest, political and historical moment of this generation.”

Really? The biggest political and historical moment of this generation? Well, at least this guy isn’t engaging in tremendous hyperbole. Unfortunately, he does appear to be engaging in tremendous pot-smoking.

So Everett Staten of the Black History Showcase and American Legacy magazine decided that it’s important for people to gather and share the experience of the first African-American man to accept the presidential nomination of a major American political party:

“This is downtown Philadelphia, it’s the cradle of liberty. It means so much to everyone, to all Americans. So why not set up a big scene outside where folks who just want to come can sit down and watch this historic moment on the most historic square mile in America?” (H/TKYW1060)

An African-American – well, Half-rican-American – is about to accept a Presidential nomination? Wow, that’s pretty impressive for a country that is “just downright mean.”

No plans have been announced for the McCain “watch party.” Go figure.

Meh. It is a historic event, but how about having viewing parties in the cities community centers to show urban kids better things are possible for them in life? The people who could receive the most positive impact from an event like this won’t be able to go to Center City.

    Idiots.

Sorry, no rain, just clear skies.

The only people that will probably go down to Independence Hall tonight are all of the middle class Philadelphians that make $5 million a year.

RT – But then, it won’t be as big a crowd, just many smaller ones, silly!

Randal – So, just drug dealers then? I’m sure they’ll be voting for The Obamessiah.
