Thug To Detective: Why So Serious?

By Wyatt Earp | August 1, 2011

Morons like this guy are the best job security of all time.

Pittsburgh police say a man tried to carjack a plainclothes officer near filming for the latest Batman movie – and allegedly told him it was part of the script. Detective Robert DiGiacomo was in an unmarked vehicle around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, looking for a suspect in an assault. That’s when police say a man opened the car door, sat down and told the officer to get out.

The officer drew his gun and ordered the suspect, 21-year-old Micah Calamosca, out of the car. He says the suspect told him he was part of filming for “The Dark Knight Rises” and that taking the vehicle was in the script. (H/TSmite)

True story: About six months after I got on the job, I was driving home after the midnight shift. I stopped at a light on Allegheny Avenue, in full uniform, and some toad walked up to my car and opened up the passenger side door. I pulled out my gun and pointed it at him, saying, “May I help you?” The toad responded, “Um, no man, I was just gonna ask for directions.” He closed the door and ran away.

A few years ago in Louisiana, a couple of would-be carjackers tried to snatch the wrong car. Seems it was driven by an off duty Caddo Parrish deputy, and riding shotgun was another off duty deputy.

After a moderate to heavy amount of gunfire was exchanged, the bad guys were aprehended. The worst part of it: no one was hit.

I think those deputies needed some time on the range.

All said, Wyatt, stay safe and keep yer powder dry.

All-time winner, imo, was the fellow who tried to rob a gun store. He had to walk around a marked police cruiser to get in, the officer was in uniform and standing at the counter, and all the staff were open carrying. Mr. robber put a round in the ceiling to get everyone’s attention and got more than he bargained for.

    Stay safe
