New Jersey Pilot Arrested After Strafing Run
By Wyatt Earp | October 15, 2010
A Westwood, New Jersey man was arrested yesterday after his Cessna plane strafed a high school football field. Thankfully, there were no injuries in the attack, but some trees were vandalized and several athletes were scarred for life:
Borough resident Warren Saunders has been charged Thursday with violating state aviation codes for an airplane toilet paper-drop stunt that stirred up post-9/11 anxieties about low-flying planes, authorities said. The Cessna 172 S pilot was practicing for a planned flight over a Saturday football game against Mahwah, during which the toilet paper from the practice run would be replaced with streamers in the school’s colors: red and white, Regino said.
But the practice run started to go wrong when soccer players who were using the field, at the Westwood Regional Middle School, reported that a small, single-engine plane was circling the school and dropping unknown objects, Regino said. The police secured the area and called hazmat teams and investigators from the Bergen County Sheriffs Department.
No need for that . . . unless he was throwing used toilet paper.

The pilot must have thought he was scaring the …. out of the players. Or he thought soccer is a crappy game, so…

Well, if they crapped themselves, they were in luck.

Dammmit, it’s “buzzed” not “strafed”.
Strafing includes guns going “bang bang” a lot.
You got me all excited.

The headline is very misleading. Like Veeshir said strafing involves guns going bang bang many times. Usually resulting in someone dying.Or wounded.

Robert B. – Well played, sir.
RT – Plenty to go around.
Veeshir – Actually, “strafed” would apply because he was tossing out projectiles . . . of t.p.
Rick – Hey, those full rolls could really hurt a guy!

The proper response when someone in a plane throws anything at you is “Ack! Ack!”
