Cheerleaders Complain About Skimpy Uniforms

Cheerleaders complaining about skimpy uniforms?
Earlier this year, cheerleaders in one Florida district had to get special permission to wear their skirts on game day, because the uniforms were too skimpy for a new dress code. In a fascinating twist, last week cheerleaders in Connecticut begged school officials to help make their uniforms less skimpy.
According to the Connecticut Post and NBC Connecticut, Heidi Medina, the captain of Bridgeport Central’s cheerleading squad, stood before the Bridgeport Board of Education in her team’s standard uniform, which bares athletes midriffs and uses either small shorts or baggy sweatpants as bottoms, to make a statement that it was inappropriate.
Wow, that must have been hot. What? I’m just sayin’!
“It really hurts our self esteem,” Bridgeport Central senior Ariana Mesaros told the Board of Education, according to the Post. “I am embarrassed to stand up here dressed like this. Is this really how you want Bridgeport to be represented?”
Hey, if you laid off the Twinkies and jumped on the StairMaster, your midriff would be tighter than a virgin on prom night. Again, I’m just sayin’.
For its part, the Bridgeport Board of Education is moving quickly to quell the controversy, with the assistant superintendent of secondary schools telling the Post that black bodysuits would be purchased for the Central cheerleaders to wear under their uniforms.
Oh, for cripes’ sake, why not have them wear muumuus? Or better yet, we can put the girls in burkhas to appease with Hartford’s City Council.

Bob G. – If the parents were concerned about uniforms, they wouldn’t have their daughters be cheerleaders in the first place.

I tend to think that if the outfit is so skimpy that even the teenage girls of today think it shows too much skin, then there’s got to be something very wrong with the person who ordered them.

Wyatt: They don’t show their belly buttons. Will my daughter wear something like that? Probably not. But as long as their chests aren’t hanging out and/or not wearing thongs, then I don’t see a problem.
Where is the Christina Hendricks post for the week? Huff Poo has some article today where she says Gay men and women hit on her all of the time.

My barbie-esq blonde beauty of a daughter was a cheer leader for her HS and I was embarassed every time she bent over ! Or I would get homicidal when the guy next to me made a comment about “her tight little ass” – I’m just sayin…

They’re embarrassed by the skimpy uniforms, yet they pose for the newspaper article in them. If their self esteemed is that damaged, maybe they should quit being cheerleaders and go out for a sport.

Mrs. Crankipants – Yeah, so embarrassed that they don’t mind showing their midriffs to thousands of people. Puh-lease! Mom and dad told them to be outraged. That’s where this is coming from.

We were at the Hootin’ and Hollarin’ last week-end (or was it the week-end before?) and the parade had high school cheerleaders with their outfits. Midriffs weren’t showing, but as they walked, I could see butt cheek. I looked at my girls and said “That is why you will never be a cheerleader. And I want to know where those girls’ fathers are!”
I don’t care how skimpy a uniform is supposed to be, if the hem comes above the butt cheek, it is too short. And no, these girls were not in anyway overweight.

Hey, I was a high-school boy once. Bring on the skimpy outfits.
FWIW, I have a 20-year-old daughter. She never wanted to be a cheerleader, but had she wanted to, the outfit is part of the deal. Put up or shut up.

Those outfits do not look that skimpy at all. If you don’t want your belly hanging out then A) don’t be a cheerleader or B) step away from the double cheeseburgers and do some sit-ups.
But I will agree with Kim the skirts do not need to be that short. They are supposed to leave a little to the imagination. Unless they are on stage with a $20 cover.
