Spider-Man Has Left The Rink

By Wyatt Earp | August 12, 2010

For some kids nowadays, sports is less about fun and more about that competitive edge. Frustrated athletes-turned-coaches focus upon winning above all else, and forget about the joy of playing the game.

So it’s nice to see a 6-year old boy playing for the joy of the game, like my son Erik was doing on Tuesday night . . .

After scoring the goal, he came running over to me and started climbing the fence, a la .

Well, he’s nothing if not enthusiastic.

Gotta love the big smile. I’m sure you were smiling, too, Wyatt.

You have every reason to be proud of this fine young man.

Doesn’t Tony Stewart climb the fence, too? ;)

Better to climb the fence than to do a Carl Edwards backflip on the rink, for sure.
    Very cool indeed.

Christie – Thanks! And welcome back!

MeToo – And slightly cringing – as the father of the kid who overly celebrates his goals.

Rick – He’s a good kid, and it’s great to see him enjoy the game.

RT – Yes, but we don’t mention that since Erik hates Tony Stewart now. Never forgave him for wrecking Joey Logano at Dover last year.

Bob – Yeah, good point. Even with the helmet, it’s not a good idea.
