Mountain Of Love

By Wyatt Earp | August 23, 2010

They say that confession is good for the soul. Well, today I have a confession to make. I have a new love. She is more bubbly than Dorothy Krysiuk and sweeter than Christina Hendricks. She is everything I have ever wanted, and yet, I worry that she will not be around forever. Thus, the time is right to introduce her to you, my dear readers.

Ladies and gentlemen, the love that swept me off my feet . . .

I absolutely adore this stuff. Made with real sugar, baby! It’s so sweet that you can actually feel your teeth rotting away with every sip. If I could, I would have it come out of my water tap.

If you folks ever feel the need to buy me a gift – because I’m so awesome – my one and only choice would be Mountain Dew Throwback. It truly is the elixir of the gods.

Good stuff! I was wondering where Dorothy Krysiuk went. Boston?

I could develop an addiction to this myself. Anything that feels like it is rotting you teeth with every drink is good enough for me.

I didn’t notice the taste difference between throwback and HFCS (aka “normal” dew). But then again, I almost always drink diet dew, so….

My niece asked me Saturday night if I were on a desert island what would I take to eat and drink. I told her Coronas with unlimited limes and Portillo’s Italian Beef.

Scratch that. Retro Mountain Dew with all the real sugar and Portillo’s Italian Beef.

Actually, I would just ask for an IV bag for the Mountain Dew.

I was soooo close to buying some this weekend. I’ll have to see if the Giant near me still has some.

Real sugar? Betcha it’ll get banned in NYC.

…then the black market (or green? heh) will start bootlegging it, transporting across state lines from Jersey.

Yes….but unlike Dorothy, I’m sure it isn’t exclusive to Boston.

I saw this a while back and thought of you. ha! The throwback Pepsi isn’t too bad, and I don’t like Pepsi.

I’ll have to try the Mountain Dew version.

Say what you will, but Dorothy would never give you gas.

Mrs. Crankipants – I’m about two NASCAR races away from that.

BIG – Yeah, from one liberal Hell to another.

USAdmiral – I love Mountain Dew – even their Diet is great – but this is head and shoulders above the usual.

Picky – I noticed, but I like the diet, as well. Good stuff.

Ferrell – Better than ten Red Bulls!

Randal – It is definitely worth it, especially since it’s only in a limited run. I’ll need to hoard up before it goes away.

Smite – Finally, bootlegging is back with a vengeance!

RT – If you’re feeling tired, have one. You’ll be twitching with joy.

JT – No, she sure won’t.

The Pepsi Throwback has been available for about a year. All of this is because corn syrup is in short supply due to Congress paying off Midwest corn farmers and passing the Ethanol subsidy so we are now putting our food supply in the gas tank of our cars. Therefore Real Sugar is now cheaper than corn syrup so they are going back to it.

My son brought a 12 pack home from the shore with him today. I’m logging off now to go try a can.

    Ingineer66 – Then there’s a chance it’ll be around for a while? Joy-gasm!

Wagonsux – I can almost guarantee you’ll like it.

GroovyVic – Whoo hoo! Bring the hoop skirt!

Wyatt, the Mountains are calling your name. The man who invented the drink you love was from Johnson City, TN. His name was Charles O. Gordon and was also the bottler of a local drink called Dr. Enuf. I knew him well. He was a top notch conservative and American.

Bob – I only started drinking it in the 90′s. I gotta catch up.

JT – A valley girl? Fer sure!

Piper – Most folks from Tennessee are.

    GroovyVic – Just sayin’. :)

Dr Pepper also has the real sugar version out. I had a roommate in college who swore Sun Drop had about a hundred times the caffeine that Mt Dew has.

MrCaniac – I love the Doc, too. Never had Sun Drop, but if it’s got more caffeine, I want some!

Coke with sugar instead of corn syrup has been available for a while now…costs a bit more than the regular variety as it’s shipped up from Mexico in glass bottles, but if (like me) you prefer Coke to Pepsi, you can kick it old-school.

  26. Robert Swick Says:

I had a liter of it today b/c of the caffeine. WOOO HOO! Mountain Dew!
