Pr0n Is Reinventing The Internet

By Wyatt Earp | June 28, 2010

It might as well, since it comprises 98% of the ‘net now, anyway.

On Friday, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers board of directors approved the new top-level domain — that’s the technical name for the .com, .xxx or .net part of a URL — and sent it on to the next committee.

“It’s been a long time coming, but I’m excited about the fact that .xxx will soon become a reality. This is great news,” said Stuart Lawley, chairman of ICM Registry, the nonprofit organization that has been leading the charge to establish the new TLD.

“It’s been a long time coming?” Really inappropriate choice of words there, dude.

Was that the money shot quote?

…Only thing about the “It’s been a long time coming” line is that, according to the article, approval of the .xxx domain by the ICANN Governmental Advisory Committee is still pending.

So although it’s been a long, hard road, the climax is yet to come…

    ;)

I need to remember to stay logged in to my GoDaddy account so I can grab all the good .xxx names when they get set loose.

This will be my revenge for unintentionally hosting a pr0n server one weekend and not getting a damn dime out of it.

They’ve come through some tight spaces, even had a few hard times, butt now it looks like most of the resistance has gone tits up. So let’s hope that they don’t blow this. Unless all parties consent, this could wind up a sticky situation.

Given that it is government approval that they need, maybe it’s time to spread some money and shots around?

Wes S. – Well crafted, sir.

    Jon – Smelling like Clorox . . .

Ingineer66 – Heh, heh, you said “hard.” And “on.”

CM – And you didn’t tell me? We are so not friends anymore!

    Medic3 – Brilliant!
