Where did this happen? In “gun-free” Chicago, Illinois!
The man, and army veteran, shot and killed the intruder after he entered the residence. The scumbag was carrying a gun, so I offer my congratulations to the army veteran. Go home and sleep well tonight. You did the Windy city a service.
An 80-year-old Chicago man shot and killed an armed man who broke into his two-story house in a pre-dawn home invasion Wednesday on the city’s West Side.
At about 5:20 a.m., the homeowner and his wife, also in her 80s, discovered the intruder entering their home through a back door. The homeowner, who had a gun, confronted and killed the burglar on the doorstep, police said. Cops said the intruder also fired his gun during the struggle.
“It’s a good thing they had a gun, or they might be dead,” said Curtis Thompson, who lives next door to the couple, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Neighbors described the elderly couple, who both walk with canes, as pillars of the community in Garfield Park, where home invasions have been all too frequent.
But by all means, Daley, utilize your powerful Democrat brain to take away the citizens’ first line of defense . . .
No charges have been filed against the homeowner, but Chicago currently has a statute outlawing the possession of handguns. Its legality is currently being decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.
A high-profile Chicago attorney has already stepped forward offering to represent the man pro bono if he faces charges for possessing a weapon.
Good for him. If any place would file charges against a hero, it would be Chicago.

How times have changed. And not for the better.
I hope he avoids or beats any charges. But sadly, he probably won’t get his gun back.

Sure they can take his gun, but they cannot take his will to prevail or his ability to defend himself without the aid of the government.
It’s not guns they hate, but those who choose a gun (or 15) over waiting for dial a prayer to bring help.
I’ve trained people of all ages and from all walks of life in the safe and responsible use of firearms. It warms my heart when a “new” person takes a course and gets their first time on the firing line. The joy is perpetuated when they send an email after purchasing their fifth gun.
I say, make sure you let me know once you feel you have purchased “enough”. I rarely hear from anyone…

Charlie just got his first gun for his birthday yesterday. I’m sure it won’t be his last. Stories like this warm my heart and let me believe that his rights won’t be completely taken away by the time he is an adult. Or if they are, he will disregard them and place freedom to protect and defend above law like this gentleman did.

Actually, there’s a case like this every few years, where a crippled old woman or a geezer reduces a perp to room temperature. The cops often chip in and buy the victim a new gun or a box of ammo.
