Dan Rather Has Nice Melons

By Wyatt Earp | March 9, 2010

And apparently, they are for sale. Just don’t ask President Obama to be your “closer,” because Rather thinks he wouldn’t even win the steak knives:

Limbaugh played the audio this afternoon and now it’s anywhere and everywhere. Ironically, it’s the fact that it’s so cringeworthy that makes me think it was innocently intended: Had Document Dan meant to take a veiled racial swipe at Obama, he surely would have veiled it more thoroughly than this. Lacking the left’s ability to read minds, I feel obliged to give him a pass — although I suppose we could compromise and say he’s guilty of unconscious racism, where the audience gets to tell the speaker what he “really” intended.

Don’t forget to add this post to the bookmarks in your “What if a conservative had said it?” folder.

Allahpundit is giving Rather a lot more credit than he deserves in my opinion. The statement obviously had racist undertones, and while he may not necessarily be a racist, he is an idiot. I give the man zero slack for that. Allahpundit does have a point in his final sentence, though: if a Republican had said this his or her career would be over.

The video is below the fold . . .

Thank God Bill Clinton didn’t have Obama get him coffee, because coffee is for closers only.

I am not positive, but didn’t Dan Rather have another racial faux pas last year? Me thinks there might be more to the story. But since he is a lib Newsweek or Time will not dedicate 10 reporters to dig up the hidden story.

Rather is an idiot, and that’s one of his better points. Good to see that MSNBC is as far up the food chain as he can get anymore. Hell, Nick Jr. has better ratings than Matthews.

    It’s a good thing Trent Lott didn’t say something like that…oh wait a minute…

Jon – And he may not be racist, but he certainly says racist things.

Randal – Least he didn’t say fried chicken.

MeToo – He would have already been fired from his shows.

Ingineer66 – I thought he said something before, but I don’t remember what it was.

Rick – Somewhere, a village is missing its idiot.

CP – Because Yo Gabba Gabba! is much more informative.

Captain – And the Dems forced Lott to resign. Should we hold our breath for Rather’s resignation?
