Hope For Iran?

By Wyatt Earp | December 28, 2009

If this weekend’s protests are any indication, there may be hope for freedom in this country.

Tehran, Iran — An Iranian national security official has called for demonstrators to be arrested following deadly weekend anti-government protests in Tehran. Soon afterward, an opposition Web site reported a wave of arrests.

“The undignified and disruptive behavior of the rioters is no longer tolerable for our people, since they have brought undignified behaviors to new heights by offending sanctities and values held dear in Islam and Iran,” Naghavi Hosseini, a member of the Parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, told state-run IRNA.

“The Nation’s Judiciary must swiftly arrest the rioters who committed those crimes.” (H/TCNN)

Good move, Naghavi. Cracking down and making arrests will only endear the protesters to your regime. Idiot. The Soviet Union tried this, too, and how did that work out for them?

Let us hope for a pro democracy revolution. There seems to be many people in Iran calling for a regime change. And there are probably plenty more that want a change, but are not yet willing to fight in the streets for it.

Ingineer66 – Historically, freedom is contagious. Hopefully, they will find the courage to come forward.

I dare say that many in this country would not do the same. These folks are courageous. It seems quiet for a while and then the protests begin again. I hope they do not give up.

This may save Israel and the world from WW3 if they can
topple this regime before its to late. So in solidarity with the protestors I say..Jehovah Akbar!

you know Obama is going to take credit for this, if eventually it turns into more uprising and eventually another East Germany/USSR fate of the 80′s/90′s.

Rt – Nor do I. This can be a game-changing moment for them.

    Jon – There ya go!

Smite – And the MSM will give him credit, while they ignore Reagan’s role in the fall of the Berlin Wall and the fall of the USSR.
