Guess Where I’m Going On Sunday?

By Wyatt Earp | May 29, 2009

Wait, let me show you . . .

Yeeaahh, baby! Wyatt will be in the stands at Dover International Speedway for the Sprint Cup Autism Speaks 400! Here’s the story:

A few weeks ago, Randal called and asked me if I anted to go to the Dover race. It was kind of short notice for a day-long trip, but I said, “Sure!” And then he hit me with the news. One of his connections got us tickets to the race, a pit pass, and a garage pass. Apparently, this deal is so primo that we had to get a background check before our garage passes were approved. Freakin’ awesome!

Oh, and did I mention that the tickets are absolutely, positively free?

Yeah. I thought you would call me that dirty word.

So, we are in the midst of readying ourselves for a day at the track. For those of you not in the know, a NASCAR race is a daylong event, consisting of tailgating, the race, then more tailgating. It is the world’s biggest block party, and you are almost guaranteed to come home deaf.

That is especially true in our case, as we are sitting in the 21st row.

Of course, it will be a working vacation, as I will do my best to get some really close-up photos in the garage area, as well as some pics of the day’s events. My gain is your gain. Hell, if we’re lucky, I’ll land another picture of Randal wearing his pink “Racing Girl” bucket hat.

Mmm . . . fast, loud American cars!

Admit it, you’re jealous.

I’ll send you a whole dollar if you bring your old ticket book with from your patrol days and threaten the drivers with it.

Ya, you heard me, a whole dollar.

“that dirty word”? Shouldn’t it be “those dirty words”? ;)

    Have fun!

The only memories I have of a Dover race are of the traffic. Because of the increased traffic for a Dover race a couple of years ago, some guy inadvertently hit me. It was my first accident and the first time a car I bought myself was damaged. Needless to say, it mean I’ll stay off the major roads. :)

Ya won’t catch me anywhere near Dover for race weekend. Working in Del., i know the traffic all too well. Too many blinkin’ idiots… beach weekend + race weekend = insanity on the roads.

    Haha,

Thats awesome, maybe I will see you there. I am doing a promotion for Tylenol so you will probably see me handing them out or something.

At 5’9 Ill likely be the second tallest female doing the Tylenol promotion after my best friend who is 5’11 so I probably wont be all that hard to spot.

You should come find me as after all I do kind of owe you a hug. (See waaaayyyy back to Sept 22nd under your blog entree ‘Australian Hippie Donates Kidney’ Im not insane by the way I used the search feature to find that post by searching ‘free hugs’ Ok maybe Im a little insane but it has nothing to do with that, haha.)

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you both have a ton of fun!

Your mission is to get a picture with Junior (well, at least his car or a life-sized cut-out).

Have fun, take sunscreen, and charge the batteries for your camera. :)

If it was a night race, then I’d be jealous.

Eric T – Thanks sir, I’m really psyched!

    Kaveman – Ooo, a dollar!

Code Monkey – Heh. You have your track, I have mine.

Bitter – Randal is driving, so I’ll let him and his huge, gas-guzzling, earth-polluting truck get us by.

Bob – Yeah, we are leaving at 0530, so I have to be up at 0345. Ugh.

Jeffro – Never. He has fleas!

K – I’ll look for you if I see the Tylenol people. If you check out my Family Security Matters article this week – it’s on the front page of the site – the article has my photo.

RT – That was last year at Richmond. Night races rule.

Well, yes, yes I am jealous…and I’m not even a big fan of NASCAR. (Just a little itty bitty one.)

    Hope you have fun.

Well Im back home (as I have been for a while). Im curious if you saw me at all. Tylenol was right outside the track with all the vendors and other companies promoting things so I never got to go in. If you did find the Tylenol tent I was giving out the “lanyards” from about 9ish on(the plastic things that go around someones neck that most people use to hold their tickets and such) while leading people into the tent to get the other good stuff. I was also dancing away to the music blaring in the tent most of the time.

Hope any of your favorite drivers win!

K – I went by before I went inside the track – around 1pm. I definitely saw your tall friend – brown hair, pulled back, pretty – and she was talking to two guys and a girl with sunglasses and long dark colored hair, a little curly. I was going to go up to your friend and ask for you, but I would feel like a dope asking for “K,” so I demurred.

Despite what I may seem like on the blog, I am not the most confident sort.

You suck and your wife dresses you funny.

    What? Me jealous?

I’m sure you had a great time! Dammit.

My friend has red hair (and is taller too!). It sounds like it was me you saw as I have brown hair and it was pulled back in the hat, haha. I was posted at the front of the tent so if you only saw one girl it was likely me. Come to think of it I think I may have been the only girl there with brown hair too. I think other then my friend with red hair all the other girls had blonde or black hair.

If you would have come up to me asking for “K” I would have laughed, maybe teased you a little bit then added that it was me. Either that or I may have thought you were asking for “Kay” as I have a friend that goes by that name and said I had no clue who you were looking for. For future reference I put my real email address in this post (unlike usually) and that has what the K stands for (my first name)

By the way, assuming it was me you saw, thanks for the compliment!

    K.

Jim – I’ll post the stories and the photos/video soon. You won’t believe the access we got before the race. It’s drool-worthy.

K – You’re welcome. When I saw you – I guess it was you – you were talking to another girl and two guys in the front of the tent to the left (if you’re looking at the tent). I asked my brother if I should go up and ask, and he said, “Um, you’re not that guy.”

    I said, “What guy?”

he replied, “The guy who goes up to a girl he doesn’t know and starts a conversation.”

He was right. Sorry. Hell, maybe I’ll see you up here someday, since I think you said you live in Philly, too.

  16. K Says:
    June 2nd, 2009 at 12:35 am

Its a shame. It likely would have been a great conversation.

I do indeed live in Philly btw.

I represent random companies for a living so if you ever see anyone handing out flyers or samples of a product in the city look for me.

I also travel quite a bit and do events like what you saw so if you ever go to some other event with lots of venders as well as companies promoting in some way (key word here being promoting as that is what I do) and you think you see someone that looks oddly familiar you may not be as crazy as you think after all :)

As for the conversation you could always ask me if I am still waiting for the PPD’s hiring freeze to end to become a PO or how my luck is with coming up with money (or what I am really trying to do is get someone to hire me in exchange for) to learn to fly helicopters as both are my so called “crazy dreams.” I would LOVE LOVE if I could somehow put the two together. I am working on both of those but not relying on either.

    K :)

K – I hope you get the PPD job. We could really use the help. And your goal after becoming an officer is to get promoted to Detective. Best job in the department, deary. I promise.
