Have you ever been unlucky enough to catch a splinter in your finger? How about getting a piece of dust caught in your eye or under your contact lenses? Was it painful? Did it last an hour or two?
Well, if it did, there is a woman in Albania that is ready to call your a wuss. Read on:
TIRANA – An Albanian woman lived for a dozen years with a bullet lodged below her cheekbone without noticing it, news agency ATA reported Friday.
Seriously, how the frak does this happen?
Mrike Rrucaj was sleeping when a bullet flew into her house in 1997, the news agency reported, at a time when anarchy was rife in Albania following protests against fraudulent pyramid schemes.
Many took up arms to regain their savings in an armed rebellion in which more than 2,000 were killed.
“I was covered in blood and my husband took me to the emergency where there were many people injured,” Rrucaj recalled of the incident.
“But the doctor told me that the bullet came out and cleaned the wound,” ATA quoted the 40-year-old saying.
Remind me to never go to an Albanian hospital . . . for anything!
Only recently did Rrucaj begin experiencing headaches, prompting her to seek medical help. After an X-ray showed the bullet in her jaw area, she had surgery to remove it. (H/T – )
Hopefully, she had the surgery in Greece or Italy. It appears that most Albanian doctors are as qualified as this guy . . .

OUCH! There was a story last week about a guy who got an MRI and coughed out an old nail. (They think the magnetic stuff caused the nail to dislodge itself.)
Yeah, that woman’s doctor really sucked.

You forgot the most important part. Did the people get their money back from the pyramid scheme? Did the mob of angry AK47 wielding victims make a deal with those responsible for said pyramid scheme that gave the thieves a slap on the wrist, and allowed them to live under house arrest in swank apartments? Has anyone tried to rip off Albanians since?
And why does this story keep making me want to say Alabama instead of Albania?
