4 Stabbed During “Notorious” Party

By Wyatt Earp | January 17, 2009

Film Review NotoriousWait a minute. Violence followed a nightclub party following the release a film about a rap star?

Shocka!

In other news, water is wet and Michael Moore is fat.

NEW YORK – Police say four men were stabbed at a New York City nightclub advertising an after-party for the film premiere of “Notorious” about rapper Biggie Smalls.

Police said Saturday a 21-year-old victim stabbed numerous times was in critical condition at Brookdale Hospital. Three others were stable.

The Djumbala club is in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn. Police did not immediately release further information.

While the party had been promoted as the “official” after-party, “Notorious” distributor, Fox Searchlight, said it was not related. ()

And even if it was, would Fox Searchlight admit it? Nope.

Here’s a crazy idea, and stop me if you think I’m out of line, but I believe the propensity of rappers and their fans to commit violence may actually have something to do with its thug lifestyle!

Yeah, I know: that’s crazy talk. Nevertheless, if you want to eliminate said violence, you could just eliminate rap as a music form.

I’m just sayin’.

C-rap is Not music, it is noise. And what kind of name is Biggie Smalls? Sounds like an identity crisis to me :D

Sometimes ya just gotta laugh… They must have been checking the guns at the door! Throw MORE parties, maybe we’ll get rid of a few more, cause the gene pool definitely needs some chlorine :-)

When I saw the movie advertised, I said there was no way in hell I’d go to a theater that had that movie showing. The possibility of violence by those going to see it was too high for me to want to chance it. I also made a bet (that I just won thank you very much) that within a week of it being released, there would be news of fights (gun, knife or otherwise) surrounding the folks who went to see this piece of crap of a movie. I admit, I figured it would be at the movies…but give it time.

Oh, and another: Same old story–gang-friendly movie (Notorious), thugs go, shooting follows

The most shocking point is that no-one was shot. Who brought the knife to the gunfight?

    E.L. - Maybe he was a big guy with a small . . . Never mind.

Old NFO - And there absolutely NO lifeguard on duty. Heh, heh, “duty.”

Admiral - Well, as long as they are glorifying violence, it’ll continue.

Shannon - That’s an easy bet to win, I’m afraid.

ET - Must have been the Italian. Heh.

Rap is not a music form. Never has been. Never will be. Repeat hourly until you get it.

    Rap is not music!

    That is all.

I’ve heard a term used for situations like this: NHI - No Humans Involved. It helps us determine how much time and effort we’re going to put into the investigation.

Joe - I liked the original “non-threatening” rap. The Fat Boys, Run DMC, etc. Good stuff!

Telebush - Brilliant! I am so stealing that!
