Philly Teacher Knows A Lot About Chemistry

By Wyatt Earp | September 17, 2010

I mean, Paul Stein would have to know a lot about it because he is always dealing with pharmaceuticals. I guess Stein could teach a class about firearms, too, because he was in possession of a 9mm pistol when he was arrested.

Mr. Stein, please report to the principal’s office D-Block.

A physics teacher at an elite Philadelphia magnet school has been charged with selling a pound of marijuana outside a suburban high school — and illegally possessing a 9mm handgun when police arrested him. Paul Stein, 34, resigned Tuesday from his post in the science department of George Washington Carver High School of Engineering and Science, where he had taught for nine years.

On Sept. 8, Stein sold a pound of pot for $1,500 to an undercover member of the Montgomery County Drug Task Force, Steele said. The deal took place within 100 feet of the high school in Wyncote, and Stein had a loaded Smith & Wesson tucked in the waistband of his pants. On Aug. 10 and Sept. 3, Stein peddled 16 grams of marijuana to an undercover agent for $100, Steele said.

After his Sept. 8 arrest, police, acting on a search warrant, went to Stein’s house and seized another pound of marijuana, five firearms, a bulletproof vest, and $16,000 in cash.

You know what they say: Knowledge (and a gun) is power!

Kim – I forgot that one of my readers has her own National Guard.

Bob – And is really involved in the teacher’s union.

Watuschskie – That’s just it. This guy is a drug dealer? He looks like a tool.

    RT – Word up, G!

Crusty – “He was practicing his chemistry.”

Physics teacher? Ask him if he knows now that for every action, there is an equal yet opposite reaction.

He freely sold marijuana, now he’s in the Graybar Hotel!

I’ve been reading a lot of stuff at Reason Magazine’s website, and those guys are always “rah-rah” on the subject of legalizing marijuana. I know they’re all about free and open markets, but I just don’t see legalizing weed working. It would be a bureaucratic snake’s nest with tons of politicians piling on taxes and regulations. Guys like the teach who sell it illegally to teenagers would continue to circumvent the law, the FDA and the tax man in order to sell it to anybody they want including minors. I just don’t see pot ever being legalized.

Proof – Soon he will learn the intricacies of “friction.”

    Fenway – Breaking Dumb.

Old NFO – And a puss-aah, if I do say so myself.

Robert B. – Probably more than that. I feel like a piker with only three.

Crankipants – Agreed. If it gets legislated, the potency will drop, and they’ll still buy from people like this twit for the better stuff.
