Lakehurst Naval Base Locked Down

By Wyatt Earp | June 21, 2010

Oh, the humanity!

Incidents at separate gates caused officials to lockdown at the Lakehurst Navy base in Ocean County for about an hour Monday. The Lakehurst gates were closed from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., said Airman Bryan Swink, a spokesman for the Naval Air Engineering Center of the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

Swink said the 87th Security Forces Squadron reported simultaneous “incidents” on the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. Security detained a delivery driver at one gate after he told them that he had a gun for personal protection. The man was given a ticket and released. His name and company have not been released.

About the same time, a person reported hearing shots fired at another gate. Base security did not find any sign that a gun had been fired.

These stories are becoming more and more common of late. Knucklehead tries to test base security to no avail. News outlets post story. People immediately move on with their lives. I wonder if anyone is thinking what I’m thinking: that these tries are tests for something bigger coming down the pike.

I hope to Hell I’m wrong.

You’re wrong Wyatt. Why I was just telling my unicorn ,who just got in from a flight from La-La Land,
while putting on my rose colored glasses so I wouldn’t get sand in my eyes, when I put my head back in the sand, that everything is going to be A-Okay! I clicked my ruby slippers 3 times and ate Lucky Charms just to be sure. later I’ll go sit with a bunch of Druids in a drumming circle
and we’ll chant our troubles away, secure in the knowledge that the MSM would never lie to us, and obambi knows what he’s doing, after all he hired Napolitano didn’t he?

Snarkasm aside, I pray to Hell you’re wrong too. Nothing personal:)

Jon – Well, there is good news. The Times Square Tea Partier Would-Be bomber pleaded guilty today. Rot in Hell, you prick!

ThomasF – If something big happens, I hope it opens Washington’s eyes for good this time.

Wonder what the name of the delivery guy was? That would help me decide my theory.

Wyatt, I sure as hell hope this isn’t going to become a trend. I’m always afraid some whack-job, disgruntled Roethlisbanginberger Stiller fan will go postal and try to slam his way onto the base where Husband works.

    You’re rigth Wyatt.

Also, not including the name of the “delivery” guy in the story is suspicious or sucky reporting or both.

I was at Fort Dix MEPS in April. I can tell you that security was very tight with increasing levels of protection as we went deeper into the base. I was proud of all the men and women there who take the base security very seriously. In the words of a man I admire “bring it”.

Danny – So “Beardsley McTurbanhead” would send up a red flag?

GroovyVic – Or some irate Wolverines fan after another loss to the Buckeyes.

    Bill – Probably both.

Roger – Or is that what the black helicopter people want us to think???

JeffT – Some of them would probably enjoying popping a few terrorists with some full metal jackets.
