Teens Spend 31 Hours A Week Online

By Wyatt Earp | February 10, 2009

That’s it? I spend three times that amount online. Friggin’ lightweights.

They spend some three and a half hours communicating with friends on MSN, and around two hours on YouTube and in chat rooms.

Just over an hour is devoted to looking up cosmetic surgery procedures such as how to enlarge breasts and get collagen implants, an hour and a half is spent on family planning and pregnancy websites and one hour 35 minutes is spent investigating diets and weight loss.

In fairness, I stopped looking at breast implant procedures when I lost all of my excess fat.

One in four teenagers of the 1,000 polled said they regularly spoke to strangers online but thought it harmless.

One in three admitted trying to hide what they were looking at if a parent entered the room.

I don’t blame them. I’m the same way when the wife walks into the room.

The research was conducted by www.cybersentinel.co.uk, which provides software solutions allowing parents to block access to certain sites. (H/T - Telegraph UK)

The study also concluded that teens spend at least two hours a week looking at pr0n. Who knew I had so many teenage readers?

NHL.com's Carrie Milbank is not pr0n, kids!

Oh, after posting that picture, I should probably say something inspiring to the utes. Um . . . Stay in school, kids!

“Remember kids — Don’t forget to bring a towel!”

    There’s your positive message.

    Another classic, perhaps:

“Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker!”

31 hours a week? Got them beat hands down. Lets see, 8 hours at work minimum per day, several hours before work. about five per day on weekends… Hmmm, I think I should get a life. :p

B.C. - Yeah, Carrie makes me love the NHL even more.

RT - Bunch of slackers, I say. When I was a teen, I spent more hours than that in a week . . . uphill both ways!

AJ - Liquor? I hardly know her! Zing!

BlueCanuck - Lives are overrated. Trust me. :)
