Dems Launch Petition Against Rush Limbaugh

By Wyatt Earp | January 28, 2009

rushThis is great news!

Because, you know, Congress has nothing better to do than to waste our time and money sending a petition to a conservative talk show host, right? Of course, it’s win-win for Rush, as his already astronomical ratings will get a further boost from these shenanigans.

If this is how our elected officials are going to prioritize things, we are in a world of trouble.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has launched an online petition for readers to express their outrage at conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh for saying last week that he wanted President Barack Obama to fail.

The petition includes a 19-second sound byte of Limbaugh, saying, “If I wanted Obama to succeed, I’d be happy the Republicans have laid down. I don’t want this to work. So I’m thinking of replying to this guy, say ‘okay, I’ll send you a response, but I don’t need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails.’”

I was actually listening to the episode that has the DCCC up in arms. They took about 19 seconds out of a four-minute, 21-second monologue, and completely distorted the message. Rush said he wanted Obama’s socialist policies (and liberalism) to fail. But when do facts get in the way of a Democrat hit piece?

Meanwhile, Obama advised Republicans last Friday to stop listening to Limbaugh if they wanted to get along with Democrats and the administration. (H/T - CNSNews)

He’s kidding, right? There are a thousand things more important to this country right now than worrying about what Rush Limbaugh is saying. Maybe the DCCC should be worrying about the $900 billion “stimulus package?” Maybe the DCCC should be worrying about finding Osama bin Laden? Maybe the DCCC should be worrying about spinning the story about the new Treasury Secretary THAT DOESN’T PAY HIS TAXES!!!

Here is the link to the petition. I signed it, and attached this message:

“Thank you, Mr. Limbaugh, for expressing the free speech that our Founding Fathers fought and died for. The free speech that makes this country great.”

Uh, I want the “0″ and his policies to fail too. Look at his cabinet choices.

So starts the march to socialism.

Somehow, the president attacking a radio show host, and by extension free speech is beneath the office.

Actions have consequences and President Obama just guaranteed Rush the highest ratings in history.

    Anyone remember NWA?

Personally I petitioned with the reversal. I let them know that Free Speech is free speech. Let the man be… He can say what ever he wants, especially if they do not like it. I think they are twisting his words as well. He said he hopes that Obama “fails” because he does not want Obama’s “solutions” in America. It makes sense and either side would say something similar. People are a little to naive/ignorant. Also, Obama supporters are really touchy!

I have also told my readers at Wait Wait… Do Tell Me to petition in his behalf as well.

It’s probably safer going straight to Rush’s EIB site and signing his petition because the Dems aren’t going to read your comments just count heads.

    My thoughts exactly.

“Gangsta, gangsta, it’s not about a salary it’s all about reality”

    Sorry, a touch off topic.

Anyhoo, it’s a dangerous thing when government officials start trying to target a private citizen. I guess they got warmed up with Joe the Plumber, so they think they take on Rush.

You know, I don’t usually pimp my own stuff in your comments, but you might like this post on the same topic.

Admiral - The Treasury Secretary pick was atrocious, in my opinion.

Sully - I truly don’t know why he is bothering. There are much more important matters to attend to. And if I didn’t already listen to Rush, I would now.

    Rick - Good call.

Seth - I just don’t get the motivation behind this. Unless it’s the prelude to the implementation of the Fairness Doctrine.

RT - Probably not. They’re not that bright.

    Maggie Mama - Good point.

Doghouse - Let’s see you or me try that. We’ll be spending time in Club Fed in minutes.

JumpOut - How many times did the Dems cry about the alleged abuses and interference with the Patriot Act? They don’t see that their meddling is the exact same thing?

Old Dog - Fools, yes. Useful? Not so much. :)
