Crowd Goads Suicidal Boy To Jump To Death

By Wyatt Earp | October 2, 2008

Nuclear annihilation? We'd probably deserve it.

Nuclear annihilation? We'd probably deserve it.

I am posting this because I want to make a point. There are a lot of sick, twisted people on this planet. Remember that the next time you want to give the human race the benefit of the doubt.

Jeering onlookers goaded a teenager in Britain to jump to his death, undermining police efforts to talk him down, and then took pictures of the body.

Tuesday as 17-year-old Shaun Dykes prepared to jump from the top of a multi-storey carpark in Derby, northern England, spectators allegedly shouted to him: “How far can you bounce?,” the U.K.’s MailOnline reported.

As Dykes hesitated for three hours on the ledge while police unsuccessfully tried to reason him out of taking his life, teenagers who had gathered below shouted “Jump” and “Get on with it,” according to police and witnesses.

Then after Dykes lay in a crumpled heap on the pavement the same hecklers rushed out from behind the police cordon to take photos of the body.

“When he (Dykes) fell, lots of people were screaming and crying but there were several groups of youths who ran from behind the cordon and looked like they were taking pictures with their mobile phones,” a local shopkeeper was quoted as telling the MailOnline. (H/TFOXNews)

Mankind is inherently fascist and inherently evil. It’s a horrible truth some people don’t want to face. This story is an example of the latter.

I don’t know how to respond to this I am so heartbroken for this boy. I wish that there could have been charges brought against the crowd for contributing to his death.

    Sickening, but sadly unsurprising.

This is absolutely disgusting, what sick individuals would do that. Sadly, this is exactly what this country is going to-twisted youths & a divided community. It’s appalling that the police actually allowed this to happen. I feel deeply saddened for his family.

Last time God waited until there was only one worthy family before he destroyed the rest of the world. Happily, I don’t think we’re that far gone yet (but we get closer all the time).

Morgan – Too many of us are no different from the animals.

Deanna – There is a charge for aiding and assisting in suicide, but I doubt it was charged.

BZ – Yeah, you’re right. I soured on humanity after about three weeks.

Ky person – Some people never get rid of it.

    Randal – Ass.

John D – My thoughts exactly.

Jade – What could the police have donem other than arresting the crowd? We can’t threaten people anymore and we can’t forcibly remove them, or they’ll cry assault.

    ArkieRN – I welcome annihilation.

    RT – Agreed.

    Admiral – Completely and utterly.
