Brett Favre: Idiot

Believe it or not, even NFL legends can be stone cold stupid.
Note to Mr. Far-vra-vra: if you’re going to violate NFL rules, it’s probably not a good idea to use your Packers-issued cell phone!
As we await the NFL’s decision on the tampering charges filed by the Packers against the Vikings for “inappropriate dialogue” with Brett Favre, Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel had an interesting bit of information in a piece he wrote about the quarterback today.
McGinn writes that a source said Favre had continued to use a Packers-issued cell phone and that when the team checked the phone records it found “repeated calls to coach Brad Childress and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.”
The possibility of Favre having used a phone issued by the Packers had been speculated on last week after the Associated Press reported that Green Bay informed the NFL it felt “an investigation of the phone records would show more than ‘normal contact’ between the Vikings and Favre, even before he formally asked for his release to play for another team.” (H/T - Minneapolis StarTribune)
This entire story irks me, and in my opinion, we shouldn’t even be discussing it. The man retired! He retired and waited for months until deciding he wanted to un-retire. Frak him. I am so sick of these athletes (Michael Jordan comes to mind) that retire, then come back, then retire again.
To quote Timmy from the double-dip episode of Seinfeld: “Just take one dip and end it!”

Not only did he retire and then wait a long time to decide to un-retire…he did it twice!

The Packers need to tell this a$$hole that it is over. Even if it means the new guy is going to get hell from the fans.

As a cheesehead and Packerfan, I say “Screw Brett!”
For years the guy has brought pride back to Green Bay, but now he sounds like the standard spoiled brat primadonna jock.
As for the cell phone thing, that’s just too damn funny! Guy’s made over 100 million in his career, and still uses the free phone from the team.

That’s what I want to know; why does the team have to give players cell phones? Do all teams do that? I’m gonna give you millions of dollars AND supply a cell phone? Don’t get it.

How about a rule: once you’re retired, that’s it, or you owe the team from which you retired the balance of your contract before you come back to play.

RT, that is the rule, that’s why Favre is pissed. The Packers told him they won’t release him from the last 3 years of his contract. If he wants to play he either has to submit his papers and report to camp next week, or hope they’ll trade him based on the threat.
To make it worse (for the players) if you don’t report before the 6th week of the season then the year doesn’t count. So if Favre continues to waffle for another 2.5 months, he could owe the Pack another year
