Life Sucks

By Wyatt Earp | August 26, 2005

I gotta be honest: I am very depressed today, and it’s affecting my blogging. I just wanted to apologize to the folks in my sidebar, because I just don’t have the energy to blog surf at all. For the record, I check out every blog in the sidebar every day, and comment when I think I have something relative to say. Today is not one of those days. Today I feel like kicking someone’s ass – preferably the scumbag that murdered Terrence Flomo. The only release I’ve had today was my bike – I rode 9 miles through the park. I’m exhausted, but I think it helped.

Anyhow, I know that this is a terrible intro, but one of the Domelighters has started a blog. The Deep End is the new kid on the block – or, in the pool as it were – and I’d appreciate it if you stopped by and welcomed him to the blogosphere. He’s a Philadelphia Police Detective – like I hope to be if the damned mayor would ever promote me – and he’s very entertaining.

Besides, if I don’t promote his blog, he’ll make my life miserable if we ever work in the same Detective Division.

Hope ya feel better bruddah. You have one of the most thankless jobs on the planet.

Allow me to personally thank you for your involvment in this country’s thin blue line. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and with the family of your fallen comrades.

Thanks all, but to be honest I think the “hero” speak is all b.s. In my humble opinion, it’s just a job, not much different than any other. Don’t get me wrong: I love what I do, but when people call me things like “hero,” I frankly get embarrassed.

P.S. – And, no, Steve, most female detectives look nothing like the ones on NYPD Blue. They look more like Sipowicz!

    Nah.
    You’re heros.
    I hope you feel better.
I’ll pray for you, too! :)

Steve – I doubt you’ll make my gay list, although “First with flair!” IS pushing it.
    Do I know you?

    CUG,

I visit your site just about everyday. I comment over there too sometimes. Under the name Steve. Been reading you about 6 months to a year. You and Wyatt and Dr. Tony and IMAO are my Favorites.

it takes a particular calling and a sensitivity to that calling to take the position to do what you do…

That’s heroic to me and my kids…

Thanks, everyone! I don’t want to sound ignorant, but the “hero” talk is a little overwhelming. And I don’t take compliments very well. I’m sure I’ll be back to my old self soon enough, but today has been a very bad day :(

There aren’t that many professions where one expects to lose colleagues at work. It takes a special person to commit to a job that you know is going to really suck sometimes. To a lot of us, that means “hero”.

One thing that you have to keep in mind Wyatt. When you do make Detective. It is every Detective’s job to make the uniforms miserable. It keeps them HONEST and it comes with the 10%. Sorry guys/gals, don’t take it personal.
