Let’s Get Fiscal

Fiscal Cliff ResultsToday is the big day. If there no fiscal deal by midnight, we go off the fiscal cliff. The Bush tax cuts will expire, and everyone – including the vaunted middle class – will be paying more.

You can see exactly how much more in the chart on the left. (Just click the photo to embiggen.) Thanks Washington!

Now, thanks to CDR Salamander, you can see how the fiscal cliff will affect you firsthand. Even better, you can see how New Yorkers reacted when they heard the good news.

Ignorance is bliss . . . until you hear the truth:

Oh, this is just rich:

They’re ready to jump off a real cliff. New Yorkers of all income levels got a rude awakening yesterday when they saw in The Post how much more they will pay in taxes next year without a fiscal-cliff deal by Jan. 1.

“It’s that much higher?” asked IT worker Vikas Kataria, 34, who discovered that his combined household income of about $250,000 per year will cost him nearly $10,000 more in taxes.

Wow, sucks to be him. I have little faith a deal will get done in time, especially with a Senate that has refused to pass a constitutionally-mandated budget in four years.

Oh: Here’s a handy-dandy video to help the low-information voters realize what the government is trying to do. (H/TGateway Pundit, via Robert B.)

As the Duke once observed, “Life is tough. If you’re stupid, life is tougher”.

The stupids (aka “low-information voters”) are about to find out they’re gonna pay a big price for His Awesomeness.

Apparently Vikas Kataria doesn’t realize that, according to President Obama, he is one of “the wealthy.” If a deal had been reached on Obama’s terms, his taxes would have gone up anyway. Also, these “high” tax rates were set during the much-heralded Clinton era. If you’re a Democrat and you’re unhappy about these tax rates, your right to wax nostalgic about the Clinton years has been permanently revoked.

Formwiz – And while I think both the Congress and the Senate suck, Boehner out forth two proposals. Both were shot down by Harry Reid. Reid also said Boehner’s bill was “dead on arrival” before it was even released. Does that sound like someone who is serious about avoiding the cliff?

John D – The thing that’s gonna frak me is the 3.8% surtax on investments. So my stocks and my deferred comp are going to take a hit – during a time when the market is terrible already.

Wheeeeeeeeeeee! Yep it sucks. Oh it was the White House (aka zero) who set up the sequestration, not the R’s. Just a little history for the D’s out there. I remember Billy Jeff saying he was only going to raise taxes on the rich, yet somehow my taxes back in 1993ish timeframe went up (I was making barely over 30K with OT at that time, ahhhh the good days of Billy Jeff and blue dresses).

Hey 52% voted for higher taxes…and spending…I guess we all get to pay even more now for their stupidity.

Hey Wyatt! Excellent thread today! And although I’m sure some folks will read about residents of NYC earning $200K (single or $250K if married) and laugh at them, but they need to realize that to live in NYC, $200K IS middle class. Of course, that $200K would make you VERY Upper Middle Income in say, Wichita, KS, there aren’t many folks getting paid anything like that kind of money. And, OF COURSE, New York STATE and New York City EACH have their own Income taxes, which are based upon the Federal Income Taxes you pay.
However, the GOP is, so far at least in the MSM, being called liable for the Nation’s falling off the Fiscal Cliff. The MSM, being Obama’s biggest boosters, do not and probably will not report that the House of Representatives presented several different bills to avoid the Fiscal Cliff as well as two actual, FOR REAL Budgets for the government. Harry Reid has, of course, not only not acted on ANY of those bills or budgets, he hasn’t even allowed them to be discussed on the Floor of the U.S. Senate. Harry Reid is, of course, simply following Obama’s orders. So I’d like to suggest, in the interest of fair play, that we all start calling it Obama’s Fiscal Cliff.

If I don’t get the chance to say this later on, I sure hope you and the entire Earp Family, and all of your commenters out here, have a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!!

And while this is going on, our “Fearless Leader” is giving members of congress a $900 RAISE…

If “O” REALLY wanted to make it with WE, THE PEOPLE, he’d start by handing BACK HIS SALARY…”until this fiscal problem is resolved”…or somehting close to that
    THAT is called good propaganda.
He can’t even do THAT correctly…can he?
    (only thing I can’t stand more than a fascist…is a STUPID fascist…LOL)

Oh, well, where’s Thelma and Louise when you REALLY need them?

    Stay safe out there.
