Barack Obama’s Big Pharma Hypocrisy

For three and a half years, Barack Obama has been excoriating the eeeeevil minions behind Big Pharma. Attacks upon them were necessary to push the Obamacare legislation. So why would the administration be privately dealing with the very people he was trying to publicly destroy?

Pfizer Inc. and Merck & Co. are being pulled into an expanding congressional investigation about the agreement drug-makers reached with the Obama administration to support the Democrats’ overhaul of the U.S. health-care system.

The probe began last year, with Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee seeking documents from an industry trade group, said the people. When that group didn’t cooperate, the panel decided to target Pfizer, the world’s biggest drugmaker, along with Merck, Amgen Inc., Abbott Laboratories and AstraZeneca Plc.

I’d love to hear the administration’s explanation, but they’ve declined to comment. Transparency delenda est!

Is there anything going on in the Obama White House that isn’t shady?

The Republicans last month began negotiating directly with the companies demanding documents and information outlining what the industry agreed to with President Barack Obama in 2009 and 2010, when the law was being worked on in Congress. Michael Burgess, a Representative from Texas, said he’s been frustrated by a lack of cooperation.

Wait a minute; people in bed with the Obama administration are less than forthcoming? I am utterly shocked!

Why is this important? It’s important because Obama is forcing a radical new health care law down America’s throat. He told us that this is what the people want and need, yet its passage was only made possible with backroom deals, kickbacks, and waivers for his friends in Congress and Big Union. Every time someone investigates the legislation, another lie, or another untoward partnership is revealed.

Barack Obama is a hypocrite and a liar. I’m not sure which is worse.

Artificial drug shortages>back orders>price increases>repeat ad nauseum. Drug prices escalating for no reason. With Obama care, BigPharma is (as I understand it) guaranteed a certain percentage of their retail price, thusly with the increased prices, they will still be making an obscene profit. I suspect an in depth investigation would reveal a vast criminal conspiracy with practically all the major pharmaceutical companies involved. With BigPharma in Obambi’s corner, do you think Mr Holder cares?

Doc – No, I’m sure he doesn’t, but it amazes me how the Obamabots refuse to see the hypocrisy in his demonizing them one minute, then giving them sweetheart deals the next.

    Smite – *shudder*

Hi Wyatt! As it happens I’m on Medicare. I also take a number of prescription medications.
On Medicare I got a “supplemental pharmaceutical plan for only $59 a month until I reach a certain Dollar amount (the Gap). While I’m in the Gap (which is about 5 months a year) I have to pay retail price for my meds.
My meds cost me about $450 a month. Before I fall into the Gap they cost me about $100 a month. That’s this year.

LAST YEAR, my pre-gap prices were about $60 a month, the monthly premium was $39 a month and the in the Gap meds cost me about $300 a month. No explanation as to why the change in pricing – oh and this year two of my drugs are no longer covered by my supplemental drug plan.
Make of this what you will, but remember that Obama is taking $500 BILLION over 10 years OUT of Medicare funding; some, a minor part, for doctors fees, the rest from those of us on Medicare in the form of higher payments (premiums) and greater drug prices in AND AFTER the Gap.
And DON’T OVERLOOK the part AARP has in this: Supplemental Health coverage under ITS insurance company, United HealthCare, is lower than the other 5 plans I reviewed.
