Obama Rewards Gitmo Detainees

By Wyatt Earp | March 1, 2012

And really, don’t they deserve a reward? Their only crime is trying to murder United States soldiers and citizens.

The Obama administration spent $740,000 of our money to build a soccer field for terrorists at Gitmo.

At a time of record deficits, a new soccer field for detainees at Camp 6 in Guantanamo Bay is just getting the finishing touches – at a cost of $750,000 to taxpayers. The project began in April 2011 and is due to finish this spring. The detainees will now have three recreation facilities at Camp 6, which is home to “highly compliant” detainees.

In addition to an indoor recreation field and the existing outdoor recreation field, the new soccer field – selected because it is such a popular sport with detainees – is half the size of an American football field. The new field has been specially constructed so that the detainees “have maximum access” — about 20 hours a day. Special passageways allow the detainees to pass into the new recreation yard without being escorted by the military.

The best (or worst) part? It’s a much better facility than your kids play upon.

Just threw up on my keyboard………..

  2. You know what? If it turned out there were landmines or bamboo spikes that randomly shot up from the field if somebody stepped on them, then I’d say that’s $740K well spent.

But it probably doesn’t have any of those niceties

  3. An American says:

Oh, they probably used Cuban Nationals as labor… so it’s likely to have microphones hidden throughout (some folks may be too young to remember the idiots in DC allowing “local labor” to build our embassy’s overseas and finding that the KGB had hidden microphones all over the buildings… )

  4. Wyatt Earp says:

Roger – Yeah, it’s fairly nauseating.

Fenway – Yeah, that’s probably too much to hope for.

AA – And our diplomats were shocked when they found out. Good going, guys.

  5. Is there a Starbucks inside as well?

  6. John D says:

Just think of how many American lives overseas will be spared by the goodwill this buys us in the Muslim world. /sarcasm

  7. Conveniently just under the 750k number that would require congressional approval…

  8. Wyatt Earp says:

Ferrell – Well, there certainly isn’t a bacon bar.

John D – And hours after Obama said his Koran apology “settled things down,” two more U.S. servicemen were killed.

Smite – Isn’t that interesting? Eh, congress is just an inconvenient road bump.

  9. Uncle Ray says:

Yeah, but you forgot to mention that they have to use a ball that explodes after 150 kicks! Feelin’ lucky, Abdul??????

  10. Jack Rackim says:

That’s one of the problems we have these days. We build them things like that, feed them well, clothe them and they live well. Better than ever before in their lives. How would they treat any one of us if caught and held? We all know the answer. It makes me so angry that our government does this. It’s just not right.

    • Wyatt Earp says:

Obama apologized for the (accidental) Koran burnings in Afghanistan. Less than a day later, they killed two more of our servicemen.

When referring to Muslim extremists, I always use this scene from The Terminator:

“Listen, and understand. That terminator is out there. It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.”

THAT is what we are up against. But yeah, coddle them and maybe they’ll love us.

    Wyatt:
They NEED to install one of those things you sit on and then spin around for five minutes (then throw up)…
    LOTS more fun that waterboarding.

    Hey, how’s about a SKATE-waterboarding park instead?
Hell, I used to call it SIX FLAGS OVER GITMO for years…for a REASON.
    ;)

    Stay safe

Glorius leader, B.O., is cutting medical costs for the military and is building play grounds for these scumbags. What next sponsorship in the Olympics?

  13. joated says:

Maybe we can spice their game up a bit by placing a few mines here and there. I’m sure they’d get a bang out of it. Just like playing back home!
