Play Now Is Not A Happy Place Today

Seinfeld fans will remember Daniel Von Bargen (far left) as George’s former boss Mr. Kruger. Von Bargen was also in the film Broken Arrow and TV’s Malcolm in the Middle.
Von Bargen was good in almost everything, and had perfect timing in Seinfeld. Because of that, it was such a shock to see this story yesterday.
Former Seinfeld actor Daniel von Bargen was left fighting for life after shooting himself in the head in an apparent suicide attempt. Von Bargen – who played Mr. Kruger in the hit U.S. comedy – called 911 himself and told the operator he had shot himself in the head on Monday morning.
The 61-year-old American actor told the dispatcher: “I’ve shot myself in the head but it didn’t work… I need help.” When asked where he shot himself, he replied: “I shot… in my temple.”
When asked if the shooting was an accident, the actor replied: “I was supposed to go to the hospital and I didn’t want to. They were supposed to amputate at least a few toes.”
Damn. Von Bargen is still listed in critical condition.

Sad news. That guy’s a great actor. He also played Chief Grady in SUPER TROOPERS.
John D – Good call! Another film classic. “The next guy who says shenanigans is going to get pistol whipped!”
I hope he gets better
Rick – As do I. I asked the wife, “If he was just losing a few toes, why would he decide to end it all.” Not making light of it, but I could see his point is he was losing his legs.
He needs to be introduced to some members of the Armed Forces who have lost limbs and still manage to live full lives. Do actors have issues unique from other people, or am I just insensitive?
Mike47, some actors have a fairly unique view of the world, which makes them susceptible to bad decision making. Their inherent narcissistic personalities (that often make them a success in Hollywood) can make them prone to doing things that seem 100% off base to the rest of us. L. Ron Hubbard nailed this when he decided to exploit the Hollywood elite and target them for Scientology. Sad…
