Nats To Phillies Fans: Drop Dead

By Wyatt Earp | February 6, 2012

The Washington Nationals are baseball’s version of the Bad News Bears. They blow goats, have a terrible fan base, and score about as often as I do.

That being said, I think their new policy is their greatest move in their short history – especially since it sticks it to Phillies fans.

Thinking of heading to Washington, D.C. the weekend of May 4-6 for the first series between the Phillies and the Nationals? Well, you’d better know someone in the D.C. area after the hapless Nats decided to only allow buyers to purchase tickets to the series if they have a credit card tied to an address in Maryland, Virginia, or the District of Columbia.

Nationals COO Andy Feffer told Dan Steinberg of The Washington Post that the decision to limit the potential pool of buyers was made to try to prevent Nationals Park from becoming Citizens Bank South.

“I was tired of seeing it,” Feffer said. “Forget you, Philly. This is our park, this is our town, these are our fans, and it’s our time right now.”

Bawahahahahaha! I think that’s awesome! It won’t keep all Phillies fans out of the park, but it’ll sure put a dent in their impact. Oh, and check out the comments at the link. You’ll see the Phillies fans whining about this – the same Phillies fans who get bent when Mets fans occupy Citizens Bank park.

The schadenfreude; it warms my heart.

Isn’t this kinda dumb from an economic standpoint ?

  2. John D says:

Wow, dissed by DC. This is like having Rosie O’Donnell call you “lardass.”

  3. Wyatt Earp says:

JT – Only if the DC, MD, VA people don’t buy tickets.

John D. – Commenters at the link are claiming that what the owner is doing is “illegal.” Puh-lease.

  4. First, I hate the nickname “Nationals”. What the heck is a “National”?

Second, are Phillies fans at Nats games like Packers fans at Chicago Bears games – get drunk, strip bare chested with their Packers tattoo on their man tits and oversized Cheesehead?

  5. Veeshir says:

Second, are Phillies fans at Nats games like Packers fans at Chicago Bears games –

No, they’re like Flyers fans at Capitols games, violent and abusive.

  6. Randal Graves says:

Danny’s got the idea: that’s where I’m getting my tickets for the May 4th and 5th games. He’s basically helping to stimulate the economy (the scalper’s economy).

Mr. Feffer had better pray Phillies fans come down there or else the place will be hella-empty the way it is for the other 72 games of the year.

  7. JT says:

    Attention :

If 30,000 people wanna pay me $30.00 buck apiece to sit in my yard, they can root for WHOMEVER they want to.

  8. Dr. Evil says:

That being the case, Nats will see their home attendance slashed about 15%!

  9. Uncle Ray says:

I don’t really give a rat’s ass what the Nationals do or don’t do. But it seems like there’s a bit of restraint of trade in that smelly mess.
