Overnight Thread

By Wyatt Earp | May 4, 2011

I wanted to launch tonight’s overnight thread with a Humpday History Highlight, primarily because I think this topic is the epitome of teh funneh.

On May 4, 1990, scumbag criminal Jesse Tafero was executed in Florida. Tafero, who was convicted of murder two police officers, was sentenced to die by the electric chair.

And boy, did he get the most bang for his buck!

Jesse Tafero is executed in Florida after his electric chair malfunctions three times, causing flames to leap from his head. Tafero’s death sparked a new debate on humane methods of execution. Several states ceased use of the electric chair and adopted lethal injection as their means of capital punishment.

Yeah, never mind the inhumane executions of the officers; let’s focus on the murderous piece of detritus.

Up next: Attack of the 50-Foot Corpse!

The mummified remains of the actress who played the femme fatale in Attack Of The 50 Foot Woman has been found in her rundown Beverly Hills home. The state of the body indicates Yvette Vickers, 82, who was once a Playboy centrefold may have lain there for a year.

As my co-workers are wont to say: “She deeeeeaaaaad!”

This post is brought to you by my current ringtone:

Item 1: I remember the morning KILT radio in Houston announced that execution. Right after they DJs finished the news report (the execution was the last story), they played a Clint Black song.

    Yep.

This Killin’ Time is Killin’ Me.

    Too funny.

Item 2: Her next role will be the remake of The Mummy.

I didn’t think Tafero was all that interested in current events.

In other news near and dear to my heart, Doug Flutie’s daughter is now a NE Patriots Cheerleader.

Now that most of the Kennedy’s are gone, I think the Flutie brood is the closest thing MA has to a royal family

I can’t get the Yvette Vickers story out of my head. The mailman didn’t think anything of her overstuffed mailbox? None of her neighbors thought to check on her in a year? Nice neighborhood watch program they got going on. Really makes you think about our so called “modern lives” and how we interact with each other – or don’t. It’s very sad.

Rock Lobster? I would think your ringtone would be “Devil In My Car” or “6060-842″.

Dustyvet – He was seasoned with secret hobo spices.

    RT – Shocking.

Robert B. – Wow, that Brandon Fraser will star alongside anyone!

Fenway – Wyatt likey!!! Good for her; I’ve always liked Flutie.

Mrs. Crankipants – I have most of their albums, and their old stuff is to die for. And yes, I love 6060-842.

When a former hangman from England saw the procedure we use for lethal injection he commented that hanging was a much more humane method of execution. 90 seconds of walking to the corner office, fix the noose properly, trip the door, snap, the condemned is executed instantly, no pain or suffering.

I suspect that we stopped using hanging as an execution method due to the squeamishness of onlookers, uncomfortable at looking at the condemned suspended by the noose.

PS: Ride the Lightning was a great album.

    1. You now realize I have to dog out my Stephen Kind “Green Mile” series, right? (Or find the time to watch the movie.)

    2. I thought she died years ago. I would also ask how a body could be dead for a year or more and no one notice the smell. But I’ve read too many news articles about this very topic. Still boggles the mind.

    3. My ring tone: “ANSWER YOUR PHONE!” Husband’s ring tone: “Farmer’s Daughter” by Rodney Atkins

I thought Darryl Hannah did “Attack of the 50 ft Woman”.

So to ask a stupid question it wasn’t Darryl Hannah remains they found were they?

Kim – My co-worker have AC/DC’s Back in Black. I love it, but I don’t want to be a copycat.

Ferrell – I hope not. I didn’t even know she was sick! Vickers was in the original. Hannah in the remake.

I am execution should be in the manner your victim died.
Or make even more painful than the way the victim died.
