Superman Renounces U.S. Citizenship

By Wyatt Earp | April 28, 2011

I saw this story in the sidebar links at AoS. The Hate America Express rolls on.

The bad news: He’s supposed to be an immortal symbol of truth, justice, and the American way. The good news: Isn’t he an illegal alien? Ah well. More work now for American patriots like Batman and Spider-Man:

“Goyer’s installment steals the spotlight. When Superman drops in on an Iranian protest to stand with demonstrators in an act of civil disobedience, the U.S. government takes him to task for acting as an instrument of national policy. Superman responds by renouncing his American citizenship and proclaiming himself a citizen of the universe.”

The author of this issue is David S. Goyer, who was the screenwriter for “The Dark Knight.” He became rich and famous thanks to the opportunities afforded him in this country. I find it amazing when Goyer and other Hollywood celebs then turn around and trash America at every turn.

You beat me to it. I was going to ask you not to post about this, but I guess it was too good to pass up. They knew they would get right wingers riled up and gain a lot of ink on an irrelevant comic character. I was going to ask not to add on to this dog pile and give the whores at Time Warner the publicity they crave, but I’m too late. You can’t put the poop back into the donkey

Allow me to geek out for a moment, but the idea of an all powerful liberal who is going to fix the world is a terrifying notion. The UN is an ineffectual joke, but could you imagine if they could change the course of mighty rivers and bend steel in its bare hands. Holy crap! I would cash out what’s left in my 401K and donate it all to Lex Luthor’s Kickstarter campaign to build a giant robot.

Getting geekier still, the DC comics universe has already established that there are other worlds and other dimensions that have sentient beings. So even if Superman trades up for the whole globe, he can still be seen as a Terran Chauvinist trying to push the human way. Whiners from other planets and dimensions would still complain about those damn Jews Earthers!

I wouldn’t worry too much about children being influenced. Kids don’t read comics. Pasty 30-40 something losers do.

JT – How about handing over your government grants, too?

Crankipants – Someone on Hugh Hewitt was saying that. Kids don’t read comics like we did – not with the internet. But yeah, if that really happened, I would be begging to kneel before Zod.

When they had him renounce his citizenship, they might as well have had him renounce his Midwestern roots and values, too. Oh well, I knew there was a reason why I liked Marvel better.

At least there’s a new “green” energy source: Jonathan and Martha Kent spinning in their graves!

He’s a citizen? I thought he was an illegal alien, I don’t remember a comic book where he was granted citizen ship, and he darn sure wasn’t born here.

Maybe Supes got POed when his Fortress of Solitude was claimed bythe Fed’s “eminent domain”, and quickly became the newest SECTION 8 housing???
    I’m just sayin’…

Sounds more like something that would happen on BIZARRO WORLD!
    (alternate reality time, kids)

    Roll safe.

F- Superman. I mean who couldn’t come from another planet and get radiated and have super powers. He couldn’t carry a real superhero like Batman or Spiderman’s jock strap.

Someone’s using an entertainment form to spew out their agenda and viewpoint? Sounds like comics are going the way of Hollywood, to me.
