Ed Asner, 1929-2011

Ed Asner, star of stage and screen, has passed away after a long illness. He was 81 years old.

I didn’t much care for Asner, as he was a prominent libtard who actively supported cop killer Mumia abu-Jamal. That being said, you can’t argue with his success.

This, from Wikipedia:

Edward Asner was an American film, television, stage, and voice actor and former president of the Screen Actors Guild, primarily known for his Emmy Award-winning role as Lou Grant on both The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off series, Lou Grant.

A prominent member of the Democratic Socialists of America, Asner served two terms as president of the Screen Actors Guild, in which capacity during the 1980s he opposed US policy in Central America. He has also been active in a variety of other causes, such as the movement to free Mumia Abu-Jamal and the movement to establish single-payer health care in California, California One Care.

RIP, Ed. The official death notice is below the fold.

Happy April Fool’s Day!

Asner’s not dead, but his career is on life support. Besides, even if he was six feet under, I certainly wouldn’t mention it. The man, in my opinion, is despicable.

LDIV – That’s what I would normally say.

AJ – It was the perfect ruse, because a lot of people think he’s already dead.

JT – I should have posted something unbelievable that actually happened – like this blog averaging 2,000+ hits every day this week. No one would believe it, but there it is.

GroovyVic – No one in their right mind would get pregnant after a long break. Wait . . . oh.

Howdy Wyatt – well you sure fooled me with that one!
Unfortunately I told my mom, and realmom was so …….ah…………..filled with remorse, yeah, that’s the ticket, that at age 86 she did a flip and a handspring at the news.
I haven’t had the courage to go back in and tell her the truth, but if you should see a little old lady, about 5′ tall and maybe 145 lbs following you around, speakin’ with a Southern Accent, if I was you, I’d get the hell outta Philly.

    You got me!

I should have known better. Usually it’s the first post of the day. “I’m quitting the blog”, “I’m going to have another baby”, “I’ve always felt like a woman trapped in a man’s body”.

    You win!

Real – Got it. Shoot everyone with a southern accent.

    JT – Thanks.

    Proof – “He DED!

Mrs. Crankipants – That last one is because I am hung like a woman. (Can you say “hung” on national TV?)

  6. RT

This time in the past four years that you got me!

Dang, and I had a ticket for a concert featuring Richard Butler and was going to invite you. Not now, jerkface.

RT – I’m sure my high school friends will let me know . . . oh, never mind.

Lou – He’s never been hotter!

John D – It’s just business, after all.

Captain – Still more proof that you only look at the pictures here, instead of reading the words.

Crusty – Now that’s an idea whose time has come!

  8. Jon Brooks

Got me too. I was even thinking of something snarky to say like:

Mary: Mr. Grant? MR GRANT??? Mmmmmmrr Grant!!!

    Mary: Mr Grant say something!!

Grant: (Falls off chair to floor)

    Mary: OOOHHHHH!!! Mr. Grant!!

Jon – Don’t forget; Mary is getting up there, too.

Kim – I read that yesterday. Sad.

JT – Traffic exploded this week. It won’t last once people actually read the posts. Trust me.

    Chris C – That’s awesome!

    Bob – Exactly.

Mrs. Crankipants – Nah, he wouldn’t understand them, anyway.

Dr. Evil – I saw Dick Clark on New Year’s Eve. Nice looking corpse you got there, Mr. Burns.

Hated the bastard because of his politics… Respecte the man for his convictions. You know the routine,
fuck hiim and his politics but defend to death his right to be an asshole.

  12. ORPO1

Liked him in Mary Tyler Moore. The Missus and Grand Daughter loved his voice work in that Disney Pixar movie about the balloon lifted house.
Beyond that, not much use for him, especially for supporting Mumia.

Wow… serves me right for only reading the RSS feed. I couldn’t figure out why I hadn’t seen this elsewhere.
