Biscuits In The Basket
By Wyatt Earp | October 5, 2010
Our hockey season began last night with one of two preseason games. We faced off against the Bruins, who are usually a pretty good team. Last night, they were as dominant as the 1987 Edmonton Oilers. Unlike us, most of them were skating during the off-season, and the fact that they had two ringers didn’t help us. They skated circles around us while we found our hockey legs, and ended up winning 8-1.
My highlights? Well, I ate a slap shot from point-blank range. The puck hit me square in the face cage. And that was about the best thing that happened to me during the entire contest. Thankfully, it was just the preseason.
Some people played well on the ice, though. :
On Sunday afternoon, in an AHL preseason game against the Hamilton Bulldogs, Kaspars Daugavins of the Binghamton Senators scored one of the most remarkable shootout goals of 2010; something that, as we’ll explain in a moment, has become the stuff of hockey legend.
The unbelievable video is below the fold:

Damn, can’t claim that Daugavins was dazzling the goalie with this Sens throwback jersey.

Are those Hockey Babes at every game? I may have to start following the sport, and how close can I get to them?

Interesting, that lasted 21 seconds without a single fight! Isn’t that a record???

RT – Damned fine move.
Glenn – Absolutely. Cut from the same cloth.
Fenway – Aargh! My eyes! As bad as the similar Habs jersey.
Watuschskie – Most NHL teams have “ice dancers.” The Isles and Bruins have damned fine ones.
Old NFO – A fight during a shootout would be stellar!
Fozzy – Still, a terrific goal.

Are we in Canada?
Is hockey still a sport? Or is it like cheerleading?

Ferrell – Yeah, and I got a puck to the face cage. It was a good day.
Danny – Still 1,000,000,000 times better than baseball and basketball. The World Series will be in November this year. Puh-lease, just end the boredom already!

Will they still call it the October Classic?

I am reading this and typing as I watch the Phillies. Our company closed 45 minutes early for us to go home to watch them.
Almost as bad a Hockey in June, huh?
