NYC Woman Run Over By 11 Trains
By Wyatt Earp | August 10, 2010
My God, this is such an awful story.
Apparently, the victim was crossing between subway cars, when she slipped, fell to the track and was run over by her train. The operator checked underneath, but did not see her. She was then run over by eleven subsequent trains before anyone noticed.
I cannot imagine something so horrible, even from a freak accident.
The tragedy unfolded as Arabell Lin, 25, who has a prosthetic right leg, was walking between the cars of a Coney Island-bound N train on March 28. After she fell, she hit a device on one of the cars that triggers the emergency brake when the train encounters an obstruction.
The operator, whose name was not released, got out of the cab and spent seven minutes walking up and down the track, looking under each car for whatever caused the train to stop. Then the operator climbed aboard and continued the trip.
Lin had been walking between the fourth and fifth cars of the 10-car train when she slipped. After service resumed, 10 more trains passed over her horribly mangled remains before anyone noticed.
Please say a quick prayer for Arabell’s family.

Good God.
I can’t find the words…
…I’ll just add the Lins to tonight’s prayer list.

A sad story indeed. I couldn’t wish this on anyone, even an enemy. May God welcome her into heaven and grant her family strength an peace.

That’s just horrible-
I’m guessing this happened at night, which might in part explain why the operator didn’t spot her when the train went into emergency- nor the subsequent 10 trains….

who has a prosthetic right leg,
Dark side, did she lose her leg to a train?
Go ahead kick me.
It really is a tragic tale and sad to think that a good walk around could not notice her.

RT – I know. I almost didn’t want to post it, but for the girl’s sake, how could I not?
Wes S. – Thanks.
Robert B – Agreed on all counts.
Rick – It’s just heartbreaking. I’ve been on NYC subways, and I am surprised this doesn’t happen more often.
Fenway – Yeah, again, having been on the subway I can empathize. It’s pretty dark and dank, expecially by the rails.
TC – I have to wonder why the conductor didn’t call for more help. A supervisor, NYPD, medics, someone.

Incredible. Only in New York, kiddies, only in New York.

Bob – Yeah, it is really too busy and crowded for people to notice such things.
